Marvel Say No To R-Rated Movies

With X-Men, Spiderman, Fantastic Four and now Iron Man all making millions with a PG-13 rating, Marvel have decided that there is no need for them to go down the R-Rated route.

Marvel executive Peter Cuneo said:

“We will not be doing an R-rated films in our studio.”

“…it would be very hard for us to partner with another studio, unless it was an R-rated film, and then I think that’s pretty self-obvious because we are not interested in making R-rated films [at Marvel Studios].”

They are obviously talking from a business point of view. I am sure that if they wanted to, all of their upcoming movies could be made into R-Rated films…apart from the kid friendly Fantastic Four. R-Rated movies are not exactly better movies, they are just more violent and sexy. I am sure many fans would love to see an R-Rated Wolverine movie, however that will not be happening.

I suppose the flip side of this is if Marvel keep releasing PG-13 movies, they will make more money and will therefore make more movies. I think I can bare to see our favourite superheroes not shout profanities if it means we get sequels and other movies.
