Transformers Gets an R Rating?

Michael Bay sent his first cut of Transformers to the MPAA, and received an R Rating for intense action and violence. According to star Shia LaBoeuf, producer Steven Spielberg came to the rescue and argued his point in-front of the ratings group. The super-director was able to get the film’s rating knocked down to a PG-13.

I remember when I first heard that Bay’s initial plan to make Transformers about “A boy and his car.” That comment scared me so much. The trailer appeared a lot more “adult” than anyone was expecting. To learn that the film has earned a very hard pG-13 is reassurance enough. I can’t wait.

Transformers hits theaters on July 4th 2007.
