Former Rachael Ray Employee Trims Fat, Loses Job

Rachael Ray

A former employee of Rachael Ray’s daytime talk show is suing the CBS network for $1 million, saying he was discriminated against for trimming the fat out of his dietall of it.

Aaron Ferguson, an accountant who has suffered anorexia for six years, claims he was forced out of his job because of his eating disorder.

According to papers filed in Manhattan’s State Supreme Court, Ferguson says his supervisor repeatedly exhibited “hostile behavior” and made “vile,” discriminatory and hurtful comments, including, “Anorexics are sick in the head,” and, “Anorexics should not be able to work.”

After making multiple complaints about his supervisor, Ferguson says he was forced out of his job. He was employed July through October 2007.

Rachael Ray was not named in the lawsuit.

Richard Kelly’s The Box in September 2009?!

Richard Kelly’s new film The Box finished shooting four plus months ago, and the first test screening is supposedly later this week. So we can probably expect to see the movie in theaters in October, November or December, right? Wrong.

According to Collider, Warner Bros is planning a 2009 release for the Donnie Darko director’s ney’s w sci-fi film. Not only that, but the date they are eyeing is over a year away - September 11th 2009. Why are they interested in a date so far away? And why September 11th? Does the date have anything to do with the plot? Not that I’m aware of. Of course, everything could change if the test screening scores are through the roof.

The Box tells the story of Norma and Arthur Lewis (James Marsden and Cameron Diaz), a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world; someone they don’t know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong: Metal Heads

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong: Metal Heads

There’s nothing like a loud heavy metal concert to really set the mood for a night of romance.  And last night Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong were spotted rocking out together, following their return from Canada.

The “Fool’s Gold” babe and her cycling beau were seen heading over to Madison Square Garden in New York City to see Iron Maiden live in concert.  And they didn’t look too happy to see the paparazzi waiting for them.

Kate sported a casual ensemble, including a lacy top underneath a long blue v-neck t-shirt dress with a pair of jeans and a cardigan sweater, while Lance opted for a white button-up shirt and a pair of jeans.

As for their Canadian adventure, the duo were in Waterloo, Ontario over the weekend for a cycling fundraiser to benefit two local hospitals.  The “Ride With Lance” event drew 40 participants for the 117-kilometer course.  The event raised over $1 million for cancer research.

Brooke White Sweet on Saving the World

Brooke White, American Idol: Season 7

Brooke White will be taking the stage with a message this summer.

The season-seven American Idol finalist has teamed with Idol Gives Back and the aid group Malaria No More to encourage kids to spend their vacations not only having fun but  to do their part to make the world a better place, as well.

In addition to doling out tips on how they can help those less fortunate, the Save the World Summer campaign is offering two tickets to next year’s Idol finale for the youngster who raises the most funds to buy mosquito-blocking bed nets for children in Africa.

“This generation of American kids is the most globally conscious and actively engaged the world has ever seen,” said White, who heads out on tour with American Idols Live next month. “Malaria remains the No. 1 killer of children under five in Africa, claiming more than 1 million lives a year including an African child every 30 seconds, and I am so inspired and proud to be participating in this summer campaign…

“It’s empowering for kids to learn how they can take simple steps to make a huge impact, be it through providing food for a hungry family, planting a tree to combat global warming or donating a bed net to protect a child from malaria.”
