Jay and Seth Strike Back

It’s Apocalypse now for Seth Rogen.

The Knocked Up funnyman, along with fellow Judd Apatow repertory player Jay Baruchel, have teamed up to star in the aptly if not very creatively titled action comedy Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse.

The flick is based on a comedy short written by Rogen and his Superbad coscribe Evan Goldberg. Apocalypse made a splash online last summer when a trailer for the would-be film surfaced on YouTube.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Rogen and Goldberg were also given full creative control and final cut over the pet project.

The film will revolve around two guyswho, if history is any indication, may also happen to be stonerswho survive the apocalypse and are left to deal with the fallout together.

Shooting is set to start in 2009.

Vanessa Minnillo Lives For the Moment

Vanessa Minnillo Lives For the Moment

She’s dating 98 Degrees stud Nick Lachey, and it sounds like she’ll be breaking out into a budding movie career in the upcoming year.  Vanessa Minnillo has a lot to look forward to.

The former MTV Veejay was spotted toting her pooch around LAX yesterday.  And she recently told press that she owes her enthusiasm and live-for-the-moment attitude to her father.  And it seems to be taking her where she wants to go.

Vanessa revealed, “One thing my dad instilled in me is don’t live with regret. So everything I want to do in life I’m going to jump into. Everyone thought I was crazy when I tried out for Miss Teen USA, because I’d never done pageants. I even thought I was crazy. But I won it, and that gave me every single opportunity I have today. I’m so glad I didn’t listen to everyone else and not do it.”

Minnillo says she love the whole acting scene, and can’t wait to realize her dream of becoming a major movie star (pardon the unintentional reference to Lachey’s ex Jessica Simpson).

“When I was on the set of Fantastic Four, I loved it. I respected everyone’s work ethic. It was like a mini-family, and I want to continue doing it, whether it’s action or comedy or action-comedy. I can pull off physical comedy; I’m athletic enough not to get hurt easily.”

Rather than take the first thing that comes along, Vanessa says she’ll wait for the right role.  “We’ve had some offers that we turned down because it wasn’t me. For one of them, I had to be this bikini terrorist and in another I was some crazy girl at Mardi Gras doing anything for beads!”

Pamela Anderson Hits “Superhero Movie” Premiere

Pamela Anderson Hits “Superhero Movie” Premiere

Pamela Anderson was dressed in her typical white attire as she attended the world premiere of “Superhero Movie” last night (March 27).

Held at the Mann Village Theatre in Westwood, California, the Baywatch babe happily posed for photogs on the red carpet in between chats with fellow guests.

The action/comedy flick “Superhero Movie” is a spoof of superhero films, including everything from Batman Begins to Fantastic Four.

Directed by Craig Mazin and starring Leslie Nielsen, Sara Paxton and Tracey Morgan, “Superhero Movie” hits theaters in the US today (March 28).

Brian K Vaughn’s Roundtable

Brian K VaughnDreamWorks has acquired Roundtable, a new action comedy spec script from comic book and LOST scribe Brian K Vaughn. The story for Roundtable revolves around “Merlin assembling a bunch of modern-day knights to battle a resurrected ancient evil, only to discover that today’s knights are all washed-up athletes, cowardly scientists or Academy Award-winning actors.” Apparently it’s an update to the classic King Arthur legend, described as more Ghostbusters than Excalibur. Sounds like an incredibly strange concept if you ask me, but Vaughn has earned my faith.

His Y: The Last Man is the greatest comic book series ever created. It’s very accessible, if you don’t like comic books I highly m you pick up the first trade paperback at Barnes and Nobles - You’ll be hooked. His other comic books, Ex Machina, Runaways, and Pride of Baghdad, have all been highly acclaimed. Y: The Last Man and Runaways are both being developed into big screen films. Recently he’s been working as a writer and co-producer on the hit television show LOST.
