Burn After Reading Red Band Movie Trailer

Focus Features has released a red band movie trailer for Burn After Reading. Written and directed by The Coen Brothers, this new dark-spy comedy stars Academy Award nominee John Malkovich as an ousted CIA official, whose memoir accidentally falls into the hands of two unwise gym employees (Brad Pitt and Frances McDormand) intent on exploiting their find. Also featuring George Clooney, Tilda Swinton and Richard Jenkins. It looks like the Coens have hit another home run. Could Burn after Reading be to No Country for Old Men what The Big Lebowski was to Fargo? As long as its not another Ladykillers, I’ll be happy. Watch the trailer below and tell me what you think in the comments!
You can watch the trailer in High Definition on Apple. Burn After Reading will hit theaters on September 12th 2008.
Fred Simmons on Conan O’ Brien; The Foot Fist Way Red Band Movie Trailer

Who is Fred Simmons? Why is he The King of the Demo? And what does “King of the Demo” even mean? I’m not quite sure…
On February 26th, Danny R. McBride appeared as Simmons on the Conan O’ Brien show in a fake promo to promote the upcoming Paramount Vantage comedy The Foot Fist Way. Why should you watch this clip? Well aside from the fact that the film is currently getting a 9.7 on imdb, aside from the fact that the entire Judd Apatow crew is apparently obsessed with this movie, aside from the fact that Patton Oswalt has been “declaring it a sui generis work on par with The Big Lebowski”, it’s worth watching for Simmons’ interaction with Will Farrel alone. Check out the video.

Thanks to reader ewan happy for sending this in. The Foot Fist Way hits theaters on April 11th.

Video: Christina Ricci cast in Speed Racer

Black Snake Moan star Christina Ricci has signed on to play Trixie in The Wachowski Brother’s big screen live-action adaptation of Speed Racer. In the cartoon, Trixie (voiced by Michi Shimura) was Speed Racer’s chaste girlfriend. She had an “M” for Michi on her blouse and flew around in a helicopter during each race, advising Speed via a radio link to the Mach Five. I think Ricci could make a great Trixie if she can only dial up the pep. Watch a video of Christina talking about the project below.
The original cartoon was one of the first Japanese animes to catch traction with American audiences. Speed Racer will be played by Emile Hirsch. Joined by Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise, Dead Man Walking) and John Goodman (The Big Lebowski, The Flintstones). Speed’s archrival Racer X has not yet been cast.
Speed Racer is scheduled to hit theaters on May 9th 2008.
