Superman Getting a Revamp?
The Hulk franchise has just had a revamp and now it could be Superman’s turn. Mark Millar, the writer behind Wanted told The Daily Record some interesting info:
“I’ve been planning this my entire life. I’ve got my director and producer set up, and it’ll be 2011. This is how far ahead you have to think. The Superman brand is toxic after that last movie lost 200 million, but in 2011 we’re hoping to restart it. Sadly I can’t say who the director is, but we may make it official by Christmas. But fingers crossed it could work out, that would be my lifetime’s dream.”
It was only a few months ago that Bryan Singer told us he had intentions to direct Superman: Man of Steel, so something may be going on at Warner Bros.
Superman Returns only just made $200 million in America, and less than that worldwide. If they were going for the ‘three years between sequels’ thing they would have started by now, or we would have heard something at least.
However, keep in mind that Mark Millar got himself into some hot water after generating a story that Eminem was “begging” to star in Wanted. Eminem’s agent and Universal issued strong denials about the story and it was revealed to be a publicity stunt to get Millar some free press. Could Millar be saying this just to generate some buzz so that he can fulfil his life long dream?

The Cure - Freakshow Lyrics
I can’t believe it
I must be dreaming
She turns
The sound down
Says “I am heaving
This is a freakshow”
And I am screaming
She spins
The world round
I want to stop
Bittersweet again
Her opening move
Down and out in black
Soft shiny and smooth
Looks like the alien
Crowd got groove
She burns her name
Into my arm
But I can never
Get through
To play the game
She’s trying to lose
Her ultraviolet makes it
Harder to choose
Looks like the edge
Of the earth got moved
She blurs a way
Across the floor
I spin
To swallow the view
And it’s the same sway
Yeah
It’s the same slide
It’s the same stare
Oh
It’s the same smile
Yeah
It’s the same but
It’s not quite right
Oh
It’s insane
She shakes like a freak
Stuck in the middle
Of the room for a week
Looks like the only way
To get on the beat
Is take her up
On how to swing
But I am
Missing my feet
And it’s the same sway
Yeah
It’s the same slide
It’s the same swish
Oh
It’s the same smile
Yeah
It’s the same but
It’s not quite right
I’m in a step, out
She two more steps
Down
For three steps up
Clap
And go around
Ow
It makes my head buzz
She wants to come now
I try to stop
Always infradig her
Finishing move
Up and down in black
Soft shiny and smooth
Looks like the alien
Crowd got groove
She cuts a number
Out my arm
But I can never
Get through
To play this game
She’s trying to lose
The stuff from Mars
Makes it harder
To choose
Looks like
The final frontier
Got moved
She blurs a way
Across the floor
I spin to swallow
The view
And it’s the same sway
Yeah
It’s the same slide
It’s the same strip
Oh
It’s the same smile
Yeah
It’s the same
But it’s not
Quite right
I can’t believe it
I must be dreaming
She turns
The lights up
Says she is leaving
This is a freakshow
And I am beaten
She spins
The world round
I have to stop

James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff’s NYC Stroll
James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff’s NYC Stroll
Out in NYC following Thursday’s Los Angeles premiere of his new movie “Wanted”, James McAvoy and wife Anne-Marie Duff were spotted enjoying a romantic walk around Soho on Saturday (June 21).
Strolling around hand-in-hand, the 29-year-old Scottish actor and his actress wife of two years are currently away from their London home as James takes on the promotional duties for “Wanted” while co-star Angelina Jolie readies for the birth of her baby twins.
In related news, during his visit to the States, McAvoy was asked whether he pays much attention to the movie business and the tabloid buzz.
“I don’t spend a lot of time in L.A. I don’t hang out ‘in the industry’ in London. I don’t read all the newspapers and watch E! Entertainment every day,” James tells.
Nonetheless, McAvoy’s approach seems to be working in his favor, as he goes on to tell: “I do notice that I’m finding it easier to do projects that I like, and that’s a very welcome state of affairs. It’s all been a lovely kind of explosion. And I just hope it continues.”
Beat Ben @ the Box Office: Who Likes Mike?
Mike Myers is more famous than he is bankable. Sure, Shrek movies make cash, and the second and third Austin Powers movies performed, but that’s about it. Cat in the Hat barely took in $100 millionHorton Hears a Who did twice thatand so many others bombed. The first Austin Powers didn’t even crack $10 million opening weekend.
So look for The Love Guru, opening with little or no buzz, to come in behind Steve Carell’s Get Smart, at around $24.8 million.
Am I nuts? Can Justin Timberlake bring the kids to another ridiculous Myers incarnation? Put your numbers up in the comments, and we’ll see who’s the real box office guru.
