Huey Lewis’ Pineapple Express Theme Song

The rumors are true. Seth Rogen was able to convince Huey Lewis to record a title theme song for the upcoming Judd Apatow stoner comedy Pineapple Express.
“It is called Pineapple Express, cleverly,” director David Gordon Green told movieweb. “Our only input was, we told him we wanted it to sound like his 80s work that we loved so much. And we wanted to have the plot in it. And we wanted to have him say the title as many times as he could. There is a lot of alto sax. It is kind of like that ‘other’ Back to the Future Huey Lewis song. Not ‘Power of Love’ but ‘Back in Time’. Yeah.”
Here are the lyrics from the song’s chorus:
We got trouble,
we got to get out of here.
I’ve got you,
you’ve got me.
We are as high as we can be.
That’s all right.
How did we get into this mess?
Pineapple Express!
Sounds like an instant classic to me! Unfortunately we’ll have to wait until August 8th 2008 to hear it. But for now, enjoy this vintage music video for Huey Lewis & the News’ Power of Love which features a cameo of Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown with his time traveling Delorean.
Discuss: How cool is Huey Lewis?
Michael Strahan follows in Nicole Richie’s footsteps on Chuck
Anyone who’s followed the NFL over the last fifteen years knew what Michael Strahan’s plans were going to be after retirement: TV, TV and more TV. It was a given; during most of his career with the Giants, Strahan loved to be in front of the camera, and often did commentary and studio gigs on his off-weeks or during the playoffs.
Now, with a Super Bowl ring in-hand, the newly-retired defensive end is making his move. Not only has he joined the FOX NFL pregame show, but he also just completed filming a cameo on the NBC geek adventure comedy Chuck. He plays Mitt, the manager of the sporting goods store that’s in the same shopping center as Buy More, the store where Chuck works. He and his crew take over the home theater portion of the store during lunchtimes, playing Madden ’09 and making a mess. My guess is that we’ll set up a geeks vs. jocks scenario with retail being the venue, instead of the locker room.Strahan follows in the footsteps of Nicole Richie, who is set to play a guest role on the show this fall as well. Wow. Talk about a spectrum; it shows you that nerds love everyone, from the anorexic starlet to the big bruising ex-jock. It truly shows that Josh Schwartz is an equal opportunity employer.
Of course, how well they do in their respective roles is a whole other matter. Let’s hope Strahan does well; I’ve always liked the guy and think he could do well as an actor, even with that huge gap in his front teeth.
Beetlejuice in Transformers 2?
Lester “Beetlejuice” Green has supposedly been spotted on the Princeton set of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Many people know the little man with the even smaller head as one of the members of the Wack Pack on the Howard Stern Show. And anyone who reads the site knows I’m a huge Stern fan from wayyyy back (he gets me through my blogging day). There was a casting call for “a male little person, any ethnicity, age between 30 and 65.” Green (seen behind Michael Bay in the photo above) has appeared on the big screen before, in 2001’s Scary Movie 2 and Bubble Boy. Could he be making a cameo in Transformers 2, or is he just visiting the set?

Tinsley Mortimer Gets Into “Gossip Girl”
Tinsley Mortimer Gets Into “Gossip Girl”
Manhattan socialite Tinsley Mortimer, along with Gossip Girl cast members Blake Lively and Taylor Momsen, were spotted looking lovely in white ensembles on Monday morning as they got to work on the set of their hit CW show.
Currently filming in the Hamptons on Long Island, New York, Mortimer, aka The Tinz, recently scored herself a cameo on the juicy drama, fitting in quite nicely with her now fellow co-stars.
In related news, MTV recently shot down a reality show that was to feature Ms. Mortimer as the main attraction.
A source told Page Six, “A Tinsley reality show was shot by MTV. But they couldn’t use any of it. It’s collecting dust. She looked good but she just got dressed and went to parties every day and didn’t have anything interesting to say. It was incredibly boring. The project is dead.”
