Sean Penn’s New York City Night

Sean Penn

Sean and Robin Wright Penn may have reconciled, but that’s not stoppin’ Mr. Penn from keeping some late-night hours of the nonworking variety.

Penn was in NYC yesterday to attend a memorial service at Carnegie Hall for the late Norman Mailer. But laterway laterin the wee hours of Thursday morning, the Oscar winner and star of the just wrapped Milk was spotted at Bungalow 8.

He arrived at 1 a.m. and didn’t leave until 4 a.m.!

Also hangin' at Bungalow were Catherine Keener and model May Andersen and her beau, singer-slash-model Jamie Burke.

But I'm told Sean was on his best behavior and talkin' politicsnot rubbing elbows with the glamorous folk. "He was with a group of friends,” one fellow clubgoer reports. "He was chatting about global issues."

We loved this book when we were kids, and I can’t think of anyone (other than maybe Spielberg) that we’d rather see making this movie. The cast and voice cast includes: Catherine Keener, Forest Whitaker, Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, and Catherine O’Hara.

Below you can also find the official Warner Bros plot synopsis:

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE

Where the Wild Things Are follows the adventures of Max, a head-strong young boy who leaves home after having a fight with his mother — only to find himself in a mysterious forest bordering a vast sea. Misunderstood and rebellious, Max sets sail to the land of the Wild Things, where mischief reigns.

The adventure film will use a unique process to bring the story to life, incorporating the most dynamic elements of voice performance, live-action puppetry and computer animation. Where the Wild Things Are releases October 3, 2008.

According to Hollywood Reporter:

“…the filmmakers enjoyed working with Williams, but her voice didn’t match their original vision of how the Wild Thing should sound.”

Call me cynical, but doesn’t that sound like the definition of “PR spin”?
