The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian Movie Trailer

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Most of my friends are Lord of the Ring nuts. They are the type of people who were really looking forward to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and were really deflated and disappointed after having seen it. I’m not sure if they were expecting a harder edged movie, or what. I was very unimpressed by the computer generated effects in the trailers, and a little turned off by the prospect of the religious undertones of the story. That said, I ended up walking out of the theater two years ago surprised at how much I actually enjoyed the film. Sure, I agree that the film could have done with dome more action and a little less exposition, and at Comic Con 2007, director Andrew Adamson promised to fix the issues most people had with the first movie.

The theatrical trailer for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is a good teaser for the next chapter in the series. It offers some cool looking effects, magical fantastical imagery, promises of more action, and leaves you wanting more. Watch the trailer.

The Incredible Hulk Revealed

Hulk Photo

SHH has posted the first full photo of The Incredible Hulk. Looks very much like the early test design that was shown at Comic Con 2007. Louis Leterrier’s The Incredible Hulk staring Edward Norton as Bruce Banner, hits theaters on June 13th 2008.

Alan Moore is NOT Watching the Watchman

Watchmen

WatchmenWatchmen has surprised even the harshest of critics so far. Even original artist Dave Gibbons has praised the film’s production for it’s accuracy and amazing detail that Zack Snyder is putting into the big screen adaptation.

So what about creator Alan Moore, who has been extremely vocal in the past against the adaptations of his comics? Has he drunk the Kool Aid as well? Nope. Moore spoke with Wizard about the upcoming film, and here is what he said:

“I spoke to Dave [Gibbons] the other day. I got a piece of paper—they must’ve learned something from the V for Vendetta debacle. I got a piece of paper a couple of months ago saying, “I, the undersigned, hereby give you permission to take my name off of the film and to send my money to Dave Gibbons.” So I sent that back to them all signed and sealed, which means that now I don’t have to rant and spew about the film. I’m just simply not interested in it. Dave phoned me up, and it’s always nice to talk to Dave, but he understands that I’m not really interested in “Watchmen.” So when he phoned, he asked me if I was interested in being kept up to date on it, and I was saying, “Well, it’s always nice to talk to you, but not really.” I don’t really know much about it. I believe that it’s going ahead. I won’t be watching it, obviously. I can at least remain neutral to it as long as they’re taking my name off of it and not playing these silly, ultimately futile games like they were doing last time, which worked out so well for them. No, I’m keeping well away from all of that.

Director Snyder told fans at Comic Con 2007 that the best he can hope for is that Alan Moore will someday watch the DVD and say, “You know, they didn’t fuck it up that bad.”

“We all want to please Alan, and I think that’s a noble thing to want to do. There’s nothing wrong to get the guy who frickin’ created the thing to not hate it, I don’t think that’s an outrageous thing to want,” said Snyder. “I think the approach is to assume that the movie is better, and that’s a mistake. I would never make any assumptions.”

Get Smart Video Clip Premieres at Comic Con

Get Smart Movie

Director Peter Segal, stars Steve Carell, The Rock, Masi Oka, Ken Davitian, and Nate Torrence were in attendance to debut the first video clips from the big screen adaptation of Get Smart during the Friday morning Warner Bros panel at Comic-Con 2007.

The clip begins with a voiceover telling us that “There has always been a delicate balance between Kaos and Control. Now with that balance threatened, its time to turn to one man. Cut to Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart. Anne Hathaway as Agent 99 comes up to him from behind with a gun and shouts “Freeze!” Carell replies “No you freeze” “What? You can’t do that?” We then see a montage of humorous clips including but not limited to Smart’s car stalling while he’s on a mission. Agent 99 and Smart running down the street, climbing through air-ducts, crashing into a building, a fight in control headquarters. We got a few glimpses of Ken Davitian and The Rock in action. Max and 99 are in a closet at a party:

“Did you see anything while i was dancing,” Agent 99 asks.

“Just once but i didn’t expect them to lift you so high,” replies Smart.

The clip finishes with Smart in a jet fighter puking while it does a barrel roll.

The crowd laughed out loud a bunch of times during the clip. I predict that this film could be the next Austin Powers and really take off huge. It has that potential. And for fans of the classic tv series, it looks like they are doing this thing right. They revealed that both Hymie the robot and Agent 13 are in the movie.

“I got to wear clothes [in this movie]” commented Ken Davitian, who was of course very naked in Borat.

“Thank god,” quickly snapped The Rock, who in this film plays Maxwell Smart’s mentor, a character that was not featured in the television series.
