If you happened to be out and about in New York City yesterday, you may have seen Ashlee Simpson arriving at the Hearst Tower for the 2007 CosmoGIRL! Born to Lead Awards.
The “LaLa” singer was among several celebrities being honored, including Fall Out Boy, Dordin Sparks, Jonas Brothers and Eva Amurri.
The 23-year-old singer was selected as someone who had made her personal dreams come true, and has made a positive change in her community.
And Ashlee looked good, sporting a pleated minidress, thigh-high boots and a trendy scarf. She will be CosmoGIRL’s December/January cover girl.

Something's not adding up on Maxim's "ultimate list of the world’s most beautiful women.”
Case in point: Ashley Tisdale or Angelina Jolie? Tisdale or Gisele Bündchen? Tisdale or Tina Fey?
It’s no contest: Tisdale is No. 10 on the list, while Jolie, Bündchen and Fey don’t even make it. No offense to Sharpay, but something is wrong here. (We will, however, applaud G4's Olivia Munn at 99.)
As well, the editors clearly never forgot their first piece of American Pie, putting not one but two slices of the movie's cast on the list: cover girl Shannon Elizabeth and the inexplicable Mena Suvari. Had they included the divine Alyson Hannigan, we might have forgiven them, but…
This all seems so random. Why not add that girl you totally liked in junior high as well? Who knows, maybe she might call you now.
Also, we know it’s a list of hot ladies, but did the thesaurus up and quit ? How else to explain:
Elisha Cuthbert: "Hotter than a bowl of kimchi” (Note to Maxim: Yes, kimchi’s hot, but have you ever smelled this dish of spicy, fermented cabbage? It's not a compliment.)
Eva Longoria Parker: "Hotter than a truckload of jalapeños.” (Please.)
Sarah Michelle Gellar: "The sexiest vampire slayer this side of Van Helsing has never been hotter.” (Does this mean they think Hugh Jackman in a leather coat is sexier? Which list is this?)
With prose like this, you'd almost think Maxim doesn't expect subscribers to read this issue but will be content to simply drool over the pictures.
Oh…right.
Hilary Duff: Good Girl Gone Right
Hilary Duff is not perfect. Well, not exactly perfect. Maybe a little perfect. We don’t know.She’s the cover girl for this latest issue of Allure magazine, in which she tackles such pressing issues as Joel Madden, Lindsay Lohan and her own media-bestowed label of “good girl.” And despite her protestations to the contrary, we can't really find anything wrong with her.
“I’m not a perfect, prude girl. I like to do normal things that 20-year-olds do. But as good as it is for the rest of the world to watch people fall apart, it’s not a respectable way to be talked about,” Duff says. “I don’t want that attention. If I can’t get any from what I’m doing now, I’ll figure out a different plan.”
Considering that the artist formerly known as Lizzy McGuire earned $12 million in 2007, we’re guessing she’s not going to be changing her plan any time soon. It seemsin a wordperfect.

Kate Hudson Tops “100 Most Beautiful People” List
The always-interesting issue of People magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful People is on the way, and Kate Hudson was just revealed to be the cover girl and number one pick for 2008.
The 29-year-old mother heads a list that includes the likes of Salma Hayek, Rumer Willis, Mary J. Blige, Amanda Beard, the Gossip Girl cast and cute couple Eva Longoria & Tony Parker.
Back to Kate, when asked if she was always such a looker, she dodgingly replied: “I was a tomboy. I had three brothers. I was the girl with the dress on that always came back in the house filthy with scrapes and bruises. But I was always very girly. I had to be able to twirl so that my underwear showed.”
And the Fool’s Gold babe thinks that the evening is when she’s at her best, saying: “(I look best) at the end of the night, when everything’s soaked in and I’m still up. I like the leftover makeup in the morning. You’ve got to wash your face but there’s always the leftover eye makeup, I love that.”
