Dirty Sexy Lucy?
Dirty Sexy Money may soon be skipping to the Liu.
Lucy Liu's publicist has confirmed to News that the TV vet is in negotiations to join the cast of ABC's returning drama as a series regular.
"It's true," the rep said.
Liu was last seen on the network's much-hyped, meagerly watched midseason series Cashmere Mafia. Liu's Dirty work apparently hinges on whether Mafia is consigned to the tube trash heap in the coming weeks.
Dirty Sexy Money already counts Donald Sutherland, Peter Krause and Blair Underwood among its starring ranks.
Liu's presence would help make up for the loss of first-season regular Samaire Armstrong, who was bounced by producers for the second go-round.
No Lost? No Office? No Betty? No Heroes? Have the Globes Gone Crazy?

Either I didn't slam enough espresso this morning for my very early morning call and was nodding off while the Golden Globe nominations were announced, or the following should-be shoo-ins were completely left out of the running this year:
• Lost
• Heroes
• Ugly Betty
• Desperate Housewives
• And even…the freaking Office!
Say it with me now: Whaaaaat?!
And what's more, save for acting nods to America Ferrera and Steve Carell, all the actors and actresses from these shows were completely shut out, too. (Get all the deets and the full list of noms in our news stories.)
So, if all of these fan-favorite heavyweights were left out in the cold, who actually managed to make it in?
Turns out, the normally mainstream-minded Hollywood Foreign Press decided to shift its attention to cable this time around, giving multiple nods to such stellar shows as Showtime's The Tudors, FX's Damages, AMC's Mad Men, Showtime's Californication and HBO's Extras.
If you ask me, this surprising cable sweep offers up a pretty poignant commentary on the current state of television and, specifically, the quality (or lack thereof) of freshman network series.
See, Globes voters are notorious for being all about hot new shows—preferably big-buzz and big-audience (read: network) new shows. But this season, the only network newbies voters deemed worthy of attention were Pushing Daisies (God bless that genius show and its three nods for Best Comedy Series and Best Actor and Actress Lee Pace and Anna Friel), Christina Applegate (Samantha Who?) and Donald Sutherland (Dirty Sexy Money).
Save for a possible nod for something or someone related to Private Practice (and really…meh), there simply aren't any first-season comedies or dramas that jump to mind as having been royally snubbed. Yes, I love Gossip Girl and Chuck as much as the next guy, but they just aren't the type of shows that normally get taken seriously by awards voters.
Perhaps it's time for the networks to up their A game and get more competitive with cable. And maybe give show runners and writers more creative control, like they have over on the now-lauded cable nets, who appear to be kicking their keisters.
Just a thought.
Now please take a minute to take our poll on this morning's nominations, and don't forget to sound off in our Comments section!
Corey Feldman and Corey Haim Return for The Lost Boys 2
When Warner Bros announced that they were making a sequel to The Lost Boys, we were furious. Not only was it a sequel, but a direct-to-dvd sequel. Those are notoriously the worst because they usually became a remake of the original featuring an entirely new cast of bad actors and a horribly revamped script.
But there is good news afterall, according to Bloody-Disgusting - the two-Corey’s are back! Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander are returning as the Frog Brothers, and Corey Haim will be reprising his role as Sam Emerson. Not only that but Angus Sutherland, Keifer’s half-brother (and son of Donald Sutherland) will star as this film’s vampire villian. How cool is that? Tad Hilgenbrink (Amusement) and Autumn Reeser (The O.C.) are signed to star in the film. Let’s hope they aren’t in the film too much.
The original film was released in 1987, and followed a group of kids from Santa Clara, CA who come up against a gang of motorcycle riding teenage vampires. Keifer Sutherland played the big bad vampire leader in the original, which was directed by Joel Schumacher.
From Dusk Till Dawn 3 director P.J. Pesce will start shooting The Lost Boys: The Tribe next week. I don’t know how they did it, but Warner Home Video all of a sudden got me excited about a direct-to-dvd sequel. Sure, it will probably suck - but at least it will feel like a somewhat real sequel.
Last month on their new reality television show, Feldman broke the news to his best friend Haim that Warner Brothers were making a direct-to-dvd sequel without them. Haim started crying. You can watch that footage here.
Not Another Invasion of the Body Snatchers!

I was very disappointed today when I read a posting here on Slashfilm about the remake of the 1956 horror classic, Invasion of the Body Snatchers. While I initially planned to just post a comment, I realized I had more to say on the topic than just a few lines. It has been awhile since I have written an op/ed piece for Slashfilm, but here I go again.
My objection is that there should not be any more remakes of this classic. There was the very dated 1978 version with Leonard Nimoy and Donald Sutherland. Then in 1993, Forest Whitiker had a role in the version titled, Body Snatchers which updated the story and gave it a very cheesy and ultra happy ending. And now, in addition to other rip offs, we are getting a fourth big screen addition, with The Invasion. As long time Slashfilm readers might remember, I have written several times about the lack of creativity in Hollywood, and this just rams my point home. I cant believe there is another version coming out.
What really gets me down about it is the level of talent involved. Obviously the Wachowskis have done very impressive work, and can certainly bring talent to this project, but couldnt they bring that talent to something more fresh and new like they have done in the past with The Matrix and last years very underrated V For Vendetta. Of course, right now they are working on Speed Racer so I guess they arent exactly going for originality in their careers right now.
But the Wachowskis arent the only talented people involved in this project. The film stars Nicole Kidman and Daniel Criag. Kidman has had a very good and long career and Criags career has sky rocketed since Casino Royale. I would rather they put their acting abilities elsewhere.
I guess my big question is, arent two remakes enough?
And I guess the answer would be, no.
That is very disappointing to me. Is it too much to ask that Hollywood come up with some fresh new ideas? There are so many sequels coming out this year, films based on novels, graphic novels, and comic books it drives me crazy. Yes, adaptations, sequels and remakes can be very good, but I crave a little balance of more original ideas.
