Greg Mottola and Bill Hader Working on Vigilante Parody

Greg Mottola and Bill Hader

Greg Mottola’s Adventureland is scheduled to hit theaters later this Summer, but everyone is wondering what the SuperBad director might be doing next. Mottola revealed at a Tribeca Film Festival sponsored Apple Store event that he’s writing a script with Bill Hader (who played a cop in SuperBad and is the owner of the amusement park in Adventureland).

“We’re writing a comedy about a doorman who, while watching all the comings and goings in his building, figures out that one of his tenants is the victim of a scam. And no one believes him, and no one cares,” Mottola explained. “So it’s basically a parody of vigilante movies. He’s going to right a wrong. He’s a man against the system, a lone wolf trying to fight crime. And we are writing it kind of as a parody of movies like Get Carter or Point Blank, with a little bit of Bourne Identity… in there. The big question right now is whether of not Bill will have a mustache. That’s what we spend most of our days trying to figure out.”

Audrina Patridge’s Club Snub

Audrina Patridge’s Club Snub

Everything was going so well for “The Hills” star Audrina Patridge, as she enjoyed a bit of shopping at Intermix on Robertson Blvd. yesterday afternoon (November 27).

Patridge, who sported a dark green cropped bomber with tight navy jeans and chunky biker boots, only wishes that her night ended as pleasantly as it had started.

After changing into a black top and a new pair of jeans, Audrina and some friends attended a show at the Laugh Factory. Afterwards, the group made their way to Hyde nightclub.

While nearing the Hollywood hotspot’s entrance, Patridge and pals were stopped by the doorman, only to be told, “Your name’s not down, you’re not getting in!”

While attempting to talk her way in, the 22-year-old was seen chatting it up with Scottish singer Darius Danesh before “leaving red-faced to get a cab.”

The incident adds her name to a list of celebs denied at Hyde, including Tara Reid and Chyna, among others.

9021-Oh No, They Didn’t!

Last night, Ian Ziering confidently swaggered up to new Hollywood hot spot Crown Bar with two friends in tow, only to encounter some turbulence at the velvet rope.

"Plus one," repeats the doorman as Ian tries to reason with him to allow both his pals into the club. After a quick solo trip inside (presumably to try to reason with the powers that be), Ian admits defeat and leaves with his friends.

Hey, it always sucks to do the walk of shameespecially in front of the camerasbut he gets points for being polite and not ditching his pals. Perhaps he should try the Peach Pit next time?

Barry Watson on the Return of Samantha Who?

It's back!

Tonight, ABC's Samantha Who? returns to the tube with an all-new episode that is one of the series’ best so far. Not only do we get some good, quality Sam (Christina Applegate) and Todd (Barry Watson) time, but the writers make good use of the girls who often steal the show: Jean Smart (Regina) and Melissa McCarthy (Dena).

To celebrate, I checked in with Barry, who tells me the cast and crew are relieved to be back after the strike put the freshman hit in a holding pattern. “I feel like we were just starting to get some momentum going when everything had to stop," he said. "But things run so smoothly on this show. Everyone’s having a great time. Except for Jean. She and I just don’t get along. They have to separate us during table reads.”

Oh, if only that were true! Then SW could also be a scandalous reality series. But for better or worse, Barry was only joking and said he's hoping to branch out and work with some of the rest of the cast. “I think there is an effort to get Todd in some scenes with Jean and Kevin [Dunn] later this season, and hopefully I’ll get to spend time with the doorman too, since he does stand right outside my building.”

And is there hope for young Todd and his ex, Sam, now that he’s got a new lady, played by Lost’s Kiele Sanchez? “I think so,” said Barry. “More so now that Sam is good, instead of the [awful person she was pre-amnesia] whom he’d probably been trying to break up with for quite some time.” Christina's title-role character and series-regular status should help out, too!
