The RZA, Hans Zimmer Teamed Up to Score Vin Diesel’s Babylon A.D.

One is the feted composer of films like True Romance and The Dark Knight, the other is the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan and a killer composer in his own right (Ghost Dog, Kill Bill). What do they both have in common? They both made appearances on the latest Slashfilm Muxtape! And in yet another example of the Effect, Zimmer and the RZA have combined their magic to score Vin Diesel’s Babylon A.D., the sci-fi chaser opening late August that has taken forever to get released. Here’s what the guy also known as Bob Digi told an alt newspaper

“The RZA’s team and Hans Zimmer’s team have combined to create a hybrid kind of score for this movie that’s based in the future. So I think it’s going to be a good vibe for the audience out there, and it’s a good movie anyway – a very thought-provoking movie,” said The RZA (who got away with a lil’ third-person, but he’s The RZA, so hey!)

And add one more name to the film’s composer pot, Shavo Odadjian, the bassist for System of a Down aka “kids these days, I’ll tell ya.” That seems like a lot of effort/talent for a movie that hasn’t exactly put Geekdom on drool alert. RZA added that Tarantino has been holed up like a squirrel for many months—working on Inglorious Bastards, probs—and that he still mentions doing something more with Kill Bill, but, like a girl who leaves ya hangin’ on the phone, we all know how that goes.

Nicole Richie Comes to Chuck!

Nicole Richie

Fellas, whip out your drool cloths, ’cause Yvonne “Strahotski” Strahovski is about to girlfight again—this time with guest star Nicole Richie.

Yvonne Strahovski, Chuck

NBC just confirmed that the rumors are true. Richie will be popping into Chuck for an episode in which she will play Sarah’s (Yvonne) former high school nemesis. (So very Lohan on Betty, right?) Richie plays a “snarky and spiteful girl who tortured Sarah,” and something tells me she’s gonna so regret that whe she sees Sarah has the ability split hairs with a ninja knife. (Hooray for catfights!)

“Nicole auditioned for the part and was very funny,” says Chuck boss Josh Schwartz. “This role is a great opportunity for her to show off her comedic skills and be diabolically evil and kick some butt.”

In other breaking news (which might make some of you fellas cry), Yvonne herself tells us we won’t see much of her signature Weinerlicious costume this season, and Jamie Kennedy, who just started work on the Ghost Whisperer set right next to Chuck tells me, “They just blew up something big, but I can’t say what it is.”

So something tells me—spoiler alert!—the Weinerlicious hut might go boom. If so, get your free toasted weenies all over the streets of Burbank right now! Bring your buns!

Nicole Richie on Chuck—yay or nay? Comment below. (I vote yay.)

James Tupper joins Samantha Who?

James TupperEven if he is taking time off between his past TV Guide gig and his new job at Entertainment Weekly, gossip columnist Michael Ausiello took a few minutes to post a little casting scoop on his personal website. According to his trusted sources, cutie Men in Trees actor James Tupper will continue to charm the ladies during the next TV season; fans of the actor will be able to see him in at least three episodes of ABC’s hit comedy Samantha Who?

Slight spoilers about the role coming up!

The actor is set to play a charming philanthropist named Owen, who Ausiello describes as “the kind of guy who men want to be and women want to be with.” When casting was underway for the character, Owen was said to be “a squeaky-clean and rich Bruce Wayne type.”

Even if Owen will use his charms on Samantha, I’m pretty sure he’ll make Andrea drool over him a bit and make Dena gasp for air while she tries to utter the word “hello” to him!

What do you think of this casting? Should Samantha forget about Todd and start anew with Owen?

Naveen Andrews on Lost's End and More

Naveen Andrews, Lost

Well, this just feels like Christmas morning—especially if you’ve had “Naveen Andrews Interview” on your list for Santa for years now (like us).

As you may know, Naveen has been fairly elusive with the press in recent years; however, the man we know and love (and drool over) as Lost’s Sayid Jarrah graciously took some time at the Monte Carlo TV Fest to chat about that itty-bitty island on which he’s been kicking ass for four seasons strong.

Keep reading to get the goods!

What do you think of the fact that the show has an end date?
Relief, really. I think it was the only way to keep the quality up—the quality we had from the first season—and hopefully that’s been borne out by the fourth season.

What theory do you have about how the show will end?
I just hope that whatever it is, all these things that they’ve thrown out—all these nuggets from the polar bear to infinity—that they put it together into some cohesive whole that makes sense and is satisfying for the audience.

Where do you go in two years when the series ends?
Wherever the good work is, whether it’s film or TV. Wherever the good writing is.

Sayid showed off some pretty insane fight moves in the season finale, while battling Keamy. Has he always had those skills or has he been practicing?
I presume he was always able to, coming from the military and being in the Republican Guard, which I believe was an elite force.

How have you prepared for a character who seems quiet and peaceful on the surface but has a deep, dark side as a former torturer?
There’s obviously a certain amount of academic research you can do with history—somebody from the military and their faith, the country they’re from. But with TV, especially with a show of this nature, you have to be open and prepared for anything they might throw at you. It could mean a complete 180 in terms of what drives your character, and if you’ve prepared to the extent where it becomes rigid, it’s not going to be useful, is it?

Which character would you like to have been if you weren’t Sayid?
I always thought it would be Locke. I always liked that character, but I’m too…maybe I need to shave my head and just age a bit more.

Steve Jones, the former Sex Pistol, guided you to your first AA meeting. How did you get to know him?
I met him at a dinner party in L.A., and I was shocked to meet somebody who had been in that band who was not completely drugged out. I found that really intriguing, and it made me think, “If he’s done it, then maybe I’ve got a chance.”
