Country’s Hottest Hit the CMA Festival
Country’s Hottest Hit the CMA Festival
She’s taking a brave step in a new direction, and Jessica Simpson is making all the right moves to give her a strong start in her country music ambition.
Yesterday, the “With You” singer was spotted in Nashville at the CMA Music Fest looking cute in a green polka-dotted top as she signed autographs during a meet and greet.
Also at the CMA Music Festival were singers Carrie Underwood and Faith Hill, both giving memorable performances to the eager crowds that gathered.
Singing her heart out, Miss Underwood owned the stage like a pro, sporting an orange frilly halter-style top with shorts, while veteran Faith Hill looked cute and casual in a white top, with a lavender scarf, and a pair of jeans.
Carrie Underwood’s Powerful Grammy Performance
Carrie Underwood’s Powerful Grammy Performance
As if being the 50th Grammy Awards ceremony didn’t already generate enough buzz itself, having country music superstar Carrie Underwood open up with her chart topping hit “Before He Cheats” put things over the top from the beginning of the show.
Drifting slightly from her country roots, Underwood has really made an attempt to appeal to the Top 40 music audience to increase the reach of her music. Wearing skimpy little black shorts and a pair of boots is more expected from the likes of a Britney Spears or Rihanna.
Carrie Underwood’s live performance was first class, and will be remembered as one of the highlights of the evening. The directors of the Grammys went with a sure bet in Underwood to deliver a solid opening act, as they gave current rehab resident Amy Winehouse a slot later in the show after things were already going.
Last year Underwood surpassed Faith Hill, becoming the rising queen of country music. The deadly combination of her amazing voice and stunning looks has made her a household name (not too bad for an American Idol contestant).

Christina Aguilera’s Star-Spangled Baby
Who’s that baby wrapped in an American flag?
It’s Christina Aguilera’s boy, Max!
Xtina recently shot a PSA for Rock the Vote in which she sings a lullaby of “America the Beautiful” to her son.
“She sang a cappella, and her son was so well behaved,” Rock the Vote executive director Heather Smith says of the half-day shoot in L.A. “She got it on the first take.”
The flag is actually an homage to Madonna, who wrapped herself in an American flag for a similar PSA 18 years ago.
“We decided it was time for a new generation of artists to speak to young people,” says Smith. “This image really shows the country’s 44 million young Americans that the future is in our hands.”
The ad was directed by Sophie Muller, a veteran music video director who has worked with Beyoncé, Gwen Stefani, Sarah McLachlan, Faith Hill, Dixie Chicks and Coldplay, among others.
Aguilera’s spot will debut in a few weeks, along with corresponding print ads.
