Wedding Bells (Again) for Sara Evans

Jay Barker, Sara Evans

If at first you don’t succeed…

Country music star Sara Evans married former University of Alabama quarterback Jay Barker Saturday evening in an outdoor ceremony on a farm in Franklin, Tenn. It’s the second marriage for both.

More than 130 guests witnessed the bride, 37, being escorted down the aisle by her 8-year-old son Avery. The black-and-white-themed ceremony was a family affair, with the couple’s seven children (Evans has three and Barker has four) serving as attendants.

Evans wore an ivory silk taffeta wedding gown by Vera Wang, while Barker, 35, wore a suit by Dolce and Gabbana. He hosts a morning sports radio show in Alabama.

The couple announced their engagement on March 24 and were introduced to each other last year by their minister, Joe Beam, who performed the nuptials. They had each turned to Beam for support after their respective divorces.

Barker’s 14-year marriage ended in the summer of 2007. Evans’ 13-year marriage to politico Craig Schelske came to a grinding halt in October 2006 amid allegations of infidelity on both sides. The ugly, high-profile divorce began while she was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.

Kate Middleton Takes Time To Reflect

Kate Middleton Takes Time To Reflect

Being the girlfriend of the heir to the English Throne comes with a bit of pressure.  But Kate Middleton is taking it all in stride.

Last night, she was busying herself with an exhibition of celebrity photographs called Time To Reflect.  The London showcase was set up to raise money for children’s charity UNICEF.

Middleton hosted the gig, which included a book launch and exhibition of work by Alistair Morrison.  Morrison is a notable British photographer whose new book will be sold, with a portion of the profits going to the charity.

And it turned out to be a family affair at The Shop at Bluebird Complex, with Kate’s mother and father showing up just before Prince William himself arrived.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes: It’s a Family Affair

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes: It’s a Family Affair

It’s always nice to see super-famous celebrities treating their parents to dinner.  And last night Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes enjoyed the company of her mom and dad.

Kathleen A. Stothers and Martin Joseph Holmes, Sr of Toledo, Ohio joined their “Mad Money” daughter, and her “Minority Report” actor hubby (as well as 2-year-old Suri) for an elegant dinner at e. baldi restaurant in Beverly Hills.

And it sounds like TomKat are busily prepping up for a big housewarming party this weekend to commemorate their new Beverly Hills home.

The exclusive invitation-only soiree is said to include a cocktail party and tours of the couple’s new home.  Those lucky enough to be invited received a card that read, “Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise invite you to share an evening in their new home.”

Nicole Richie, Joel Madden Shower 100 Moms with Baby Gifts

Nicole & Joel Shower 100 Moms with Baby Gifts | Joel Madden, Nicole Richie Not many kids have a foundation launched in their honor before they’re born. But that will be one of the many privileges bestowed upon Nicole Richie and Joel Madden’s baby, due in January.

The couple hosted a surprise baby shower Monday for 100 expectant and new moms at the Los Angeles Free Clinic in Hollywood, where they handed out more than $200,000 worth of gifts. “The looks on their faces were priceless,” Richie told reporters after the shower. “Some of them didn’t even believe us [when they saw the gifts]. They thought we were joking.”

The Richie Madden Children’s Foundation (at richiemaddenfoundation.com), Madden said, was an idea the couple had when they found out they were expecting. “We grew up in Los Angeles,” he said, “and we want our child to be a part of the community, and to know that there’s a responsibility to help the community.”

’Part of a Family’

And it’s a family affair. “We named it the Richie Madden Children’s Foundation because we each have families and our families are close, and our family is involved,” Richie said. By her side with his arm stroking her back during moments in the conference, Madden quipped, “We’re lucky that we have families that get along and love each other,” adding, “I think it’s great that our child will grow up as a part of that family.”

Amongst the goodies given to families in need were Baby Bjorn products, cribs, mattresses and toys from Fisher-Price. “Everything they got, we got,” Richie says, “so everything that will be in their nursery, will be in our nursery.”

Madden felt good about the event. “Sometimes people don’t want to believe that me and Nicole are just a young couple having a baby and we’re really excited. We don’t really get to share our lives with people. It’s nice to connect with people on a real level.”
