After taking trips around the beautiful city of Shanghai for the past few days, Paris Hilton spent her Friday at the 2007 MTV Awards and Style Gala.
Taking place at the Shanghai Grand Stage, the event “presented Shanghai music lovers a fresh approach to pop music and an ‘in’ lifestyle.” And the hotel heiress is taking the opportunity to promote her name as the fashion and entertainment industries gain steam in China.
“This year’s MTV Awards showcased not only the diversity of musical scene in China, but also the power of promising young artists,” Li Yifei, managing director of MTV China, told press.
Meanwhile, Li Jian, an event organizer from China Central Television said of the event, “The show was more than a music carnival. We tried to make it a landmark and an international brand for China’s booming entertainment industry.”

Coming off of spending the past few days looking at local real estate, Britney Spears got back to the usual program by spending Friday evening at a local Starbucks.
Accompanied by her BFF cousin Alli Sims, Britney made her way into her favorite java stop wearing a sheer black top - ordering up a Frappuccino and using the public restroom (keeping the door open as the paparazzi peered in on her) before making a grand exit.
As reported previously by , the Gimme More singer was recently named the top Yahoo search of 2007. Adding to this, it has just been announced by eBay that “items tied to the troubled pop tart sold more than any other star that was ever found there.”
The items associated with Spears “ranged from signed CDs to disposable lighters featuring her likeness.”
According to the auction web site, Paris Hilton items came in a distant second, with 27,377 objects sold.

He’s just been nominated for a total of eight Grammy Awards, and Kanye West seems pretty darn pleased with the news. The “Jesus Walks” rapper shopped for furniture in West Hollywood yesterday, sporting a positive vibe.
As for his professional life, it sounds like he’s still taking some time to deal with the recent death of his mother.
With only a few days notice, West cancelled his appearance at the KDWB Jingle Ball last night, citing an unspecified “family matter.”
The KDWB program director explained, “We tried to get [West] on the air to explain all this to fans, but he refused. We did everything we could to save this thing.”
Somehow we doubt his no-show last night will do much to dampen his popularity with his fans.

Ashley Judd Recovering From Appendectomy
Still recovering from an emergency medical procedure last week, Ashley Judd was spotted out on an evening stroll in Vancouver on Sunday.
The Kiss the Girls actress had an appendicitis attack while she was filming her new movie “Helen” last week - being taken to the hospital for surgery.
According to press reports, “The actress was filming the new movie when she had the attack and collapsed on the set. She was immediately admitted to the same hospital where she was filming and received emergency surgery.”
“Luckily, the cast and crew were filming at a real hospital, so when paramedics arrived, they simply put Ashley on a stretcher and wheeled her into an operating room nearby,” a source said of the situation.
Production of the movie was halted for a few days, but everyone went back to work this morning.
