Looks like the Velvet Teddy Bear has found a long-term snuggle bunny.
American Idol season-two champ Ruben Studdard obtained a marriage license in his hometown of Birmingham, Ala., Monday morning.
According to the Birmingham News, the 29-year-old “Flying Without Wings” singer and his 30-year-old fiancée, Surata Zuri McCants, obtained the paperwork in Shelby County just before noon.
While Studdard has not publicly confirmed a date for the nuptials, the document is good for 30 days.
Here’s hoping his proposal wasn’t too pitchy.

She’s been busily promoting her new film “The Edge of Love” with Keira Knightley over in the UK, and it looks like Sienna Miller needed a break.
The “Factory Girl” actress, who recently dumped her fiancé Rhys Ifans via cell phone, touched down at Los Angeles, California’s LAX International Airport yesterday looking to lay low for a bit.
She rocked a grey tank top, vintage jeans, and UGG boots as she made her way through the terminal, stopping to chat with a few fans along the way.
Earlier in the day, Miss Miller was the object of the London paparazzi’s attention as she arrived at London Heathrow Airport, looking a bit sad as she chatted incessantly on her phone prior to her transatlantic flight.
Britney’s Bumpy Landing in La-La Land
It had only been a few days, but the paparazzi welcomed Britney Spears home as if she’s the one who’s been gone for nine months.
Despite rumors she was going to hunker down and play aunt for awhile, the popster touched down at LAX Friday afternoon and was immediately accosted by flashbulbs after a quick jaunt to Kentwood, La., to greet the arrival of sister Jamie Lynn’s first child.
Maddie Briann, Jamie Lynn’s daughter with fiancé Casey Aldridge, was born just after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, Miss., where the couple recently bought a three-bedroom home, and just a hop over the border away from the Spears homestead in Kentwood.
The usually private jet-favoring Spears and dad Jamie hopped a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New Orleans on Wednesday morning and took the same route home today.
And although the paparazzi hungrily awaiting her return at the airport were chomping at the bit, enough to warrant the attention of police (who made no arrests) and a few shoves from Jamie, Spears cheerfully flashed her pearly whites at the wolf pack.
Airport police said that one of the singer’s bodyguards pushed a camera into a photog’s face, leaving a mark, but that both parties calmed down and no official force was necessary despite the 30 or so shutterbugs swarming around Spears’ getaway vehicle.
“She was really happy to see the photographers again,” an eyewitness at the Delta terminal told News. “She smiled and posed for them when she got off the plane.”
Indeed, it’s hard to be separated from your constant companions, even for only a couple of days.

She’s been through a lot in the past few months, and Michelle Williams looks to be finally coming out of her mourning period.
Following the death of her former fiancé/babydaddy Heath Ledger, the Dawson’s Creek cutie became rather reclusive. However, she was spotted out and about again yesterday with her daughter Matilda Rose.
Michelle looked wary of the surrounding shutterbugs as she pushed her daughter’s stroller sporting a casual printed summer dress with a pair of sandals and aviator sunglasses.
As for her acting career, Miss Williams appears to be ramping up her schedule, with three films in the works: “Mammoth, ” “Blue Valentine,” and “Shutter Island.”
