Lindsay Lohan’s Labor Pains

Lindsay Lohan’s Labor Pains

Well on her way to an acting career revival, Lindsay Lohan was spotted taking a cigarette break on the set of her new movie “Labor Pains,” in which she plays a secretary who fakes a pregnancy in order to keep her job.

And LiLo looked to be on top of her game, rocking a blue top and black skirt teamed with a pair of fuzzy pink sandals and her usual black Ray Ban sunglasses.

From all accounts, the “Mean Girls” actress has shed her ‘difficult to work with’ reputation.  Producer Lati Grobman told press, “We were a little bit reluctant to work with her.  But she’s been amazing.”

And it sounds like she is well on her way to a booming (again) film career.  “She’s so natural at what she does. I’ve never seen one take where she’s off.  The difference between her and the other girls that are naughty in the business is that she’s actually talented. It’s not [like] Paris Hilton and the rest of them. We took the chance. It’s good that we did. So far, so good.”

In related news, Lindsay has officially taken her name out of the running for an Emmy for her guest spot on one episode Ugly Betty, given the fact that she’ll have a lot more exposure next season when she’s on five episodes.  Her rep said, “The appearance was brief. We made a decision to wait.”

Stump the King - Mike Myers

Party On, Wayne! So this week, NBC aired The Best of Mike Meyers and it brought back a lot of memories for me. When I was in my twenties, Meyers was the man. Wayne, Dieter and Simon were some of my favorite topics to discuss on Sundays. More importantly, he was one of the few SNL alums to make the move to the big screen successfully.

For those of you who have been living in a cave, while wearing a blindfold with your hands over your ears, the special was clearly just a way for Meyers to promote his new film, The Love Guru. Even though, the movie looks like crap, it’s nice to see Meyers making another try at a film franchise.

Wayne’s World was the first SNL-inspired movie to achieve the TV to cinema success since The Blues Brothers. Unfortunately there were some residual effects.

Once Lorne Michaels saw how much money he could make by recycling sketches, he forced the public to sit through a collection of the worst movies ever put on film.

Superstar, Night at the Roxbury, The Ladies Man and It’s Pat were all bad ideas. The amazing part is that the only star of those movies to have any kind of film career is Will Ferrell, who has managed to make a movie out of characters who weren’t much more than one joke characters in the first place.

I was a fan of the first two Austin Powers films and I respect Meyers for realizing that he couldn’t make a decent film out of Dieter, so I wish him luck with Love Guru and hope he can get back to the business of funny.

Now for this week’s question…

Who is the only person to appear on SNL as a musical guest, host and cast member?

Congratulations to Bill and Ben. Dan Aykroyd and Michal Mckean are both correct.

Keri Russell Rides The Promotion Train

Keri Russell Rides The Promotion Train

She was in NYC Sunday night for the premiere of “August Rush,” and it looks like Keri Russell never made it out of the Big Apple.

The “Felicity” actress was at MTV studios yesterday for an appearance on Total Request Live.  Then this morning she chatted up her new movie with the folks over at the Today Show.

And while her TV/film career is the most obvious thing we see about her, Keri recently became a mother- a step that has changed her live considerably.

She told press, “I’ll definitely bring him to sets….though I’ve been in denial, thinking I wouldn’t need help, but I guess I will. It’s just the idea of someone else taking care of my kid is so weird to me. It’s crazy! Friends of mine sent their kid to, granted, a really cool school in California, but it costs 30 grand a semester. For junior high! Do you know how much college costs? Who can afford that? I figure we need to find a full-time babysitter before we start dealing with that stuff.”

Corbin Bleu Branches Out

Corbin Bleu Branches Out

While his High School Musical co-star Zac Efron is busy becoming the latest teen heartthrob, Corbin Bleu is focused on bigger and better things - his fledgling film career.

The 18-year-old heartthrob was spotted this past weekend hard at work on his next film “Freestyle,” a role that necessitated his learning how to ride a dirtbike.

Corbin explains, “It’s a motocross movie about this young man’s coming of age and his dreams to turn pro, and all the struggles he goes through supporting his family. I’m a producer on it, as well.”

And while it might seem a bit extreme to have to learn to ride motocross for a role, Bleu isn’t a stranger to learning new things for movie roles.  He reportedly had to acquire some basketball and baseball moves for his role in the High School Musical movies.

Bleu told press, “It’s become a running joke—I have to learn something new for every movie I do. I hope I can keep up the streak with this motocross. What these guys go through is pretty difficult. It’s really the most physically demanding sport in the country.”
