Dark Knight Ticket Sales Eight Times as Much as Spider-Man 3

WOW. Fandango is reporting that dozens of showtimes for The Dark Knight are already sold out for the midnight screenings on Thursday night/Friday morning, July 17th. That’s right, even with a full three weeks before the film hits, screenings have begun to sell out. A few theaters have begun to add 3:00am showtimes on Friday morning to help meet the consumer demand.
Update: As of June 27, “Dark Knight” has sold eight times as many tickets on MovieTickets.com as “Spider-Man 3″ at the same point in the sales cycle — 21 days from the film’s official release. “Spider-Man 3″ is the No. 10 film on MovieTickets.com’s Top-10 Performing Films of All-Time.
First Review of The Simpsons Movie

It seems like 20th Century Fox are so nervous that bloggers might post an early review of one of their upcoming big budget films that they’ve forgotten that the main culprit is actually the print media. The London Times have published their review of The Simpsons Movie yesterday, a full five days before the film hits theaters. Yet bloggers and website based critics will have to wait until Thursday night to watch the flick.
The good news is that Springfield Vermont correspondent James Bone says the film is “a postmodern parable about an environmental scare that is at the same time hilarious and horrifyingly poignant.” The four out of five star review claims the film boasts “the same sly cultural references and flashes of brilliance that have earned the television series a following that ranges from tots to comparative literature PhDs.”
Andy Samberg’s Hot Rod Movie Trailer

I refuse to watch Saturday Night Live. I’m one of the many that believe that SNL jumped the shark long ago. And the only reason to watch is Andy Samberg’s digital shorts (Chronicles of Narnia, Natalie Portman rap). But those always find there way online, so what’s the point?
Andy Samberg’s first film hits theaters this summer. We have the teaser movie trailer after the jump.
Unfortunately it doesn’t look like he was creatively involved writing wise (I could be wrong). And I’m pretty sure that Samberg’s genius (not comic acting skills) is what makes his SNL digital shorts so funny. Director Akiva Schaffer has made a couple music videos and shot the aforementioned digital shorts on SNL. This is his feature film debut. The good news is that screenwriter Pam Brady has served as a creative consultant and writer on South Park, Team America, and the South Park movie. So chances are she has some sense of comedy.
You can also watch the teaser in High Definition over on Yahoo.
Hot Rod follows Self-proclaimed stuntman Rod Kimble (Samberg), who is preparing for the jump of his life. Rod plans to clear fifteen buses in an attempt to raise money for his abusive stepfather Frank Powell’s life-saving heart operation. He’ll land the jump, get Frank better, and then fight him, hard. The film also stars Isla Fisher, Jorma Taccone, Bill Hader, with Sissy Spacek and Ian McShane.
Hot Rod hits theaters on August 3rd 2007.
