Steve Carell is the boss for three more seasons

The Office starring Steve CarellThe title says it all. According to the blog of The Office co-creator Ricky Gervais, Steve Carell has signed on to play Michael Scott for three more seasons.

Gervais follows up the announcement by saying “He is the hardest working man in Hollywood and the harder he works the better it is for me. I mean… well done Steve you are wonderful.”

Gervais also mentions “We are also working on a spinoff series of The American Office but I can’t tell you anything about that yet.”

Mr. Carell victoriously performed the herculean task of taking someone else’s role and making it his own (well, the original character was named David Brent, but you know what I mean). Given the success of his movie efforts, he could easily ditch his television show and go full-time into film roles. Bravo to him for remembering where he came from and not taking Michael Scott away from his adoring fans.

Hollywood to Award Reality Show Winner with Starring Movie Role?!

Scream QueenWith the success of American Idol, I knew it would be only a matter of time before Hollywood would auction off film roles in reality television shows. VH1 has greenlighted a new reality series called Scream Queens which will involve 10 unknown actresses competing for a “Major Role” in a upcoming horror film from Lionsgate Films. The series will consist of eight hour-long episodes, and is set to premiere in the fall.

The horror genre isn’t taken seriously in the first place, but this is a new low. Giving a starring role to a reality show contestant? Am I wrong?  I guess you could argue that it isn’t that much different that Project Greenlight. But for some reason the idea of giving a writer/director the funding to make his movie seems a lot less tacky than this. Maybe because the logic of rewarding a contest winner with a starring role instead of finding the best actress for said role, goes beyond all logic. But I guess that happens all the time in Hollywood…

Demi Moore’s Fight Against Ageing

Demi Moore’s Fight Against Ageing

For some women, getting older is a depressing certainty.  And for Demi Moore, it has caused enough strife that she’s spent a small fortune fighting it.

The Charlie’s Angels actress forked out an estimated $450,000 over the past few years for plastic surgery.  And that’s not even the worst part.

Apparently, it hasn’t helped her get very many film roles.  Mrs. Ashton Kutcher says that there is a real sense of ageism in Hollywood.

Demi told press, “It’s been a challenging few years, being the age I am. Almost to the point where I felt like, well, they don’t know what to do with me. I am not 20. Not 30. There aren’t that many good roles for women over 40. A lot of them don’t have much substance, other than being someone’s mother or wife.”

The GI Jane actress went through a battery of procedures, including breast implants, collagen injections and liposuction on her hips, thighs and stomach.  She also had a procedure to lift the sagging skin on her knees.  But she still isn’t getting the roles that she wants.

Jessica Biel’s Multiple Professions

Jessica Biel’s Multiple Professions

Despite the fact that she keeps lining up roles in new movies, Jessica Biel seems to be taking an interest in adding the job duties of a paparazzi to her credentials.

After snapping up pictures of the photogs following her around on a Saturday shopping trip, the 7th Heaven hottie was armed and ready once again on a Monday afternoon outing to the nearby gym.

Back to the new film roles, recent reports tell that Jessica actually just signed on to co-star with Rendition actor Jake Gyllenhall in Al Gore’s daughter, Kristin Gore’s, new political comedy, Nailed.

According to press, “The offbeat movie takes a look at an immoral congressman and a sex-addicted lobbyist. Biel’s character accidentally has a nail shot into her head, which elicits bizarre sexual urges. During her visit to Washington D.C. for lobbying purposes, she meets Gyllenhaal’s character, who takes advantage of her.”

Still in the planning stages, no release date has been set thus far.
