Superman Getting a Revamp?

The Hulk franchise has just had a revamp and now it could be Superman’s turn. Mark Millar, the writer behind Wanted told The Daily Record some interesting info:

“I’ve been planning this my entire life. I’ve got my director and producer set up, and it’ll be 2011. This is how far ahead you have to think. The Superman brand is toxic after that last movie lost 200 million, but in 2011 we’re hoping to restart it. Sadly I can’t say who the director is, but we may make it official by Christmas. But fingers crossed it could work out, that would be my lifetime’s dream.”

It was only a few months ago that Bryan Singer told us he had intentions to direct Superman: Man of Steel, so something may be going on at Warner Bros.

Superman Returns only just made $200 million in America, and less than that worldwide. If they were going for the ‘three years between sequels’ thing they would have started by now, or we would have heard something at least.

However, keep in mind that Mark Millar got himself into some hot water after generating a story that Eminem was “begging” to star in Wanted. Eminem’s agent and Universal issued strong denials about the story and it was revealed to be a publicity stunt to get Millar some free press. Could Millar be saying this just to generate some buzz so that he can fulfil his life long dream?

The reality stars you love to hate

Spencer PrattThe first reality show contestant I learned to hate was Puck from the San Francisco season of MTV’s The Real World. This was actually before people went on reality shows just to be on television and become some sort of celebrity. Oh, what innocent, fun times those were (and I’m serious - the first few seasons of The Real World were quite good).

Puck was actually OK for several episodes, but then he started with the hateful talk, not getting along with his roommates, and the battles with Pedro (though I have to admit that the thing I disliked most about Puck wasn’t any of those things, it was the time he stuck his fingers in the peanut butter - gah). Now TV Guide includes Puck in their list of the top 10 reality TV villains. You can probably guess a few of the others. Spencer Pratt is on there (I had never seen or heard of this guy until Letterman’s interview last night), Survivor’s Jonny Fairplay, and, of course, Omarosa of The Apprentice.

Anyone missing from this list?

(By the way, it actually hurt a little bit to check the “celebrities” category for this post.)

Defiance Poster And Daniel Craig Has Hurt His Finger!

First Showing got a poster for Defiance staring Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, and Jamie Bell. The trailer looks good so I will probably end up seeing this.

In other Daniel Craig news, he has apparently had an accident on the set of Quantum of Solace:

Mr Craig was filming the new film Quantum of Solace at Pinewood Studios, Bucks, when he cut off the tip of one finger in an action sequence.

This finger injury comes days after Tom Hanks injured his finger while filming Angels & Demons.

Note to actors: Take care of your fingers

Amy Winehouse Is Banned From the USA

Amy Winehouse Is Banned From the USA

If you were planning on seeing Amy Winehouse in concert in the United States, you may want to cross your fingers, as the Rehab singer currently is banned from entering the country.

Speaking to ‘This Morning’, Amy’s father Mitch claims that his troubled daughter was duped into signing a drug possession confession - and now she cannot get into the USA.

Apparently, Amy was asked to sign paperwork after her recent arrest for cannabis possession in Norway. Without getting legal advice that could easily have been afforded, Winehouse gave her John Hancock without knowing what she was signing.

Mitch said of the situation, “It (the marijuana) didn’t belong to her, it belonged to someone else on the tour. They arrested Blake, Amy and the person who was responsible. They only released them after they signed a form, which they were told was a release form,” he said.

Amy’s dad added, “It (the form) was in Norwegian. It was actually a confession, so this is being dealt with now by the Norwegian authorities and the British consulate because the ramifications of that are that she now can’t get into the States and she was meant to go next week.”

Currently, there are motions in action trying to lift the ban, but whether or not Amy will be able to make the trip as scheduled is still up in the air.
