Fans Will Have A Good Chance to Be In The Hobbit!?
Peter Jackson included the names of the members of the official Lord of the Rings fan club in the credits for the DVD releases of the LOTR trilogy. Guillermo del Toro might actually top him, promising that fans will actually have “a good chance” to appear on screen in The Hobbit and/or the announced sequel.
“In either of the two films, [fans] have a good chance of being there,” del Toro told MTV, later adding: “We will set some rules and some contests and some fans will definitely get the chance of being extras.”
But I’m sure that only a few extra roles will be made available to contest winners. And while the production might require a few thousand faces for a huge crowd shot, I’m sure computer generated people would be used in such an instance. But wouldn’t it be cool if Guillermo invited a couple thousand fans to be extras on the movie? But how many fans would fly to New Zealand on their own dime to be in the film?
Wesley Snipes Gets a Ticket to Fly
Wesley Snipes is free to go…overseas to work on some films, that is.
A federal judge signed off Wednesday on the actor’s request to be able to travel for work while he waits out the appeals process pertaining to his conviction on tax-evasion charges.
According to Senior U.S. District Judge William Terrell Hodges’ ruling, Snipes is allowed to go to London this month to complete postproduction on the horror film Gallowwalker and then to Bangkok in September to film the action flick Chasing the Dragon.
Prosecutors objected to what they called Snipes’ vague estimate of how long he’d be spending in Thailand (eight weeks, the actor said), saying it’s one thing to let him go to England for a week but another to allow him to spend at least two months “beginning a new project half-way around the world with an open-ended return date.”
Snipes was sentenced in April to three years in prison for failing to file multiple income-tax returns but the court has allowed him to remain free while his attorneys appeal his case.
BURN-E Details Revealed?
reader DC claims to have more information on the upcoming WALL-E short film titled Burn-E which will be included on the DVD release. In the feature film there is a sequence where Eve and WALL-E fly around the Axiom Starliner, and enter through a door locking a poor welder bot on the outside of the ship. The bot bangs his fists against the door after he realizes that he has been locked out.
Apparently the welder bot is actually named BURN-E, complete with a logo very similar to the one mocked up by UpcomingPixar (seen above). This explains what Stanton meant when he told us that the short film would be “very connected to WALL-E.” So if I were to guess, I would say the short film will follow BURN-E on his journey to break back into the Axiom.
