Big Brother 10 - News, rumors, and speculation
Well, folks … it’s countdown time! Big Brother 10 premieres on Sunday, July 13 at 8 PM ET/PT. As I write this, casting has been completed but no formal announcements have been made. I will assure you that I won’t be in the house this season although I’ll be your fly on the wall. You can get your live feed reports here at TV. So, in a way, I’ll be in the house. But not in a way that the folks on the internet can rip me apart!
Despite the show being just two weeks away, there is little concrete news. But there are plenty of rumors and speculations floating about. Read on past the jump for scheduling news and lots of rumors.
Unfortunately, this season will be airing the same nights as last season. I personally didn’t care for the two consecutive nights as the houseguests had a flurry of activity jammed into just a few days with several days of down time. It doesn’t really affect those who just watch the shows, but it makes for very odd and sometimes very boring live feed viewing.
The schedule:
- Sunday 8 PM ET/PT
- Tuesday 9 PM ET/PT
- Wednesday 8 PM ET/PT
Confirmed facts:
Allison Grodner is once again the executive producer of the show while Arnold Shapiro bailed out before the start of last season. Julie Chen remains the host and will be once again handling the live eviction nights. There will be a live audience on eviction nights. If you live in the Los Angeles area or plan to visit there this summer, you can find the information about how to get tickets via Audiences Unlimited. Real.com will once again be offering the live feeds (for a fee, of course). Big Brother After Dark on ShoToo (Showtime sister network) will once again air the feeds nightly from 12 AM ET until 3 AM ET.
Rumors and speculation:
I scoured the internet gathering the most interesting rumors from sources such as JokersUpdates, casting director Robyn Kaas’ MySpace page, and more.
- The rooms will be decorated with themes from various decades from the ’50s to present day.
- Although the theme on recent promos is “Together Again,” that’s referring to Big Brother and the summer season, not that the houseguests will necessarily have any previous relationships.
- This cast will boast more diversity in ages, race, religion, and politics. (One can only pray this one is true!)
- The cast was selected for their strong and often opposing opinions on various issues in hopes of making for a more interesting season.
- There will be another winter season set for 2009.
- One of the finalists has already quit and an alternate was chosen.
- The finalists are expected to go into hotel sequester sometime this coming week.
Are you ready for BB10?
TV Press Tour '07: Fox Bits on Simpsons and 24

Jen here with a superquick Fox exec session rundown, because I'm totally messed up from reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows cover to cover last night. And don't worry, no HP spoilers here. We're not monsters, you know!
- Jon Stewart (hells yeah), Stephen Colbert and Lionel Richie are all guesting on this season of The Simpsons. BTW, just between you, me and the fly on the wall, the Lionel Richie part was originally offered to Smokey Robinson, but he didn't like the storyline as written. Apparently, there was a private-plane crash that spooked him.
- As first reported by the Hollywood Reporter on Friday night, Ms. Cherry Jones (the Broadway star who played the lady sheriff in M. Night Shyamalan's Signs) is gonna be the new chick prez on 24. You go, girl.
- More Hell's Kitchen coming to you. I mention this only because they sponsored the breakfast this morning, and I really needed some coffee.
- Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton showed up for the Back to You panel. I have to say, I think this may be an awesome show. It's getting little to no buzz, but it's one of those television thoroughbreds I can't help but put a little money on. Of course, fat lot of good being a thoroughbred did for Studio 60, but still, these people got mad skills.
Okay, that's all for now. Tune in later for more from So You Think You Can Dance and Bones.
Big Brother 9: Live feeds special report - final three
I’m sure you’ve heard about the live eviction planned for tonight’s Big Brother 9 episode. Well, it’s not so live. The power of veto? Long ago in the past! The power of veto meeting was held today and the first part of the three part final head of household competition took place.
Oh, my. One of the hamsters have gone missing. There are spoilers in the gallery below and, if you read on past the jump there will be severe spoilers for tonight’s show. You’ve been warned.
As I write this report, the feeds were blocked for most of the time since my last report. No worries, though. I’ve got the news for you! Just before the feeds block, Adam was working on Ryan to save Sheila, not Sharon. He has two-fold reasons to be pushing that agenda. First, I think he does want to maintain his loyalty to her. But, more importantly — the guys stand a better chance of winning HOH against her.
Sharon in comps is relatively an unknown. She’s thrown many of them and the guys just aren’t sure if the floater will suddenly come to life and win something. In an earlier feeds block, apparently the comp (first part) was explained to them. It’s an endurance comp and it’s cold out. Adam thinks that Sharon might be able to hang in, but Sheila will surely be out first.
Thus, an agreement was made. Adam and Ryan shook hands and all. Ryan wouldn’t use the POV and the nominations of Sheila and Sharon would stand. Adam would vote out Sharon. Then, in the first part of the HOH comp, Sheila (the weakest) would fall out first, probably not on purpose. Then, after Sheila’s out of it, Adam would throw the comp to Ryan.
And, now several hours of blocked feeds later, that’s exactly how it went down. Sharon is evicted. The final three are Ryan, Adam, and Sheila. Ryan has won the first part of the final HOH competition. Sheila and Adam go up against each other today in the second part.
I’ll be the fly on the wall gathering the news.
Big Brother 9: Live feeds report - March 29
Being a fly on the wall of the Big Brother 9 house isn’t an easy task, you know. The language! The flip-flopping! Sheila talking non-stop! It’s enough to make your head spin. It’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it. Someone has to let you know what’s happening in the House of Fools from the 24/7 live feed cameras. And I’m just the woman to do it.
Read on past the jump for show nominations, food comp, and power of veto spoilers for both Sunday and Tuesday televised episodes!
What’s Big Brother without a brief recap? Here’s the main skinny so far —
- Natalie nominated James and Joshuah for eviction.
- A food competition was held. Everyone in the house except for Adam and Natalie are on BB slop this week. Natalie eats regular food as a perk for being the head of household.
- James won the power of veto and will surely take himself off the block.
- Although the POV meeting isn’t until tomorrow, it’s expected that Natalie will put Sharon on the block.
Then things started getting a bit confusing. Now, the original plan was that Sharon would go up purely as a pawn and everyone except James would vote to evict Joshuah. After the POV comp, Joshuah was sure he’d be going home this week, put on a “nice Joshie” face to the crowd, promised he wouldn’t act out, and said he wanted to spend a good week in the house.
But you have to remember, Joshuah has a few stronger allies than does Sharon. Both Ryan and James have deals with Joshuah. This week four houseguests will vote to evict. If it’s a tie, Natalie has to be the tie-breaker. Even though Sheila has said she wants to go on the block and go home, Natalie doesn’t want to be in the position to evict her if it’s a tie.
So, Ryan and James both worked on Natalie to keep Joshuah in the house. Last night, Natalie agreed and a new alliance was formed — Natalie, James, Ryan, and Joshuah. They would band together from that point forward in the game. Sharon would leave this week, then Sheila, then Adam. Simple, eh?
Nope, not so simple. Ryan tried to flip Adam to their side and Natalie told Sharon of the plans! The Girls Alliance formed the other day resurrected. Now, the latest is that it could very well be a tie vote, but Natalie will vote to evict Joshuah in a tie-breaker. Adam is worried that Sharon will put him on the block, but the power of the girls in his thought processing might be enough for him to feel more secure with them. He did get a promise from Sharon that she’d put James on the block.
Sharon has been working all along with Joshuah, but she seems to be cutting the umbilical cord and looking out for herself. She’s been getting more in with the Girls Alliance, Adam, and Ryan. With the exception of Joshuah’s deal with Ryan, she will do better for herself without Joshuah.
In house crumbs:
- They played pranks last night, most aimed at scaring Sheila. Oh, it was horrible things. They were unexpectedly jumping out at her.
- Sheila kept defending what she did in the POV comp, saying she was good, then saying she was horrible. It had something to do with ounces, buckets, counting … don’t ask me. The feeds were blocked and it’s not making sense when they talk about it.
- Both Joshuah and Sharon threw each other under the proverbial bus at different times.
- Sharon thinks James wants to take Joshuah to the final two because he might be the only one he could win against at the end.
- More than once today the others said they will not vote for James to win the big prize at the end if he gets that far.
- Sheila now believes in Natalie’s premonitions. After all, she was right about Evel Dick and James. It could be a sign!
- Hmmm … a group (including Adam) was discussing Adam’s job on The Apprentice and the BB voice yelled at them to “stop that.” Fictional? Because it’s another network? Really? I haven’t a clue.
- Sheila told Natalie she’s voting for Sharon to stay. Natalie said they will be continuing to let Joshuah think he’s staying.
- In the guise of pranking, James poured flour on Sheila. She’s not a happy camper, but it sure was funny!
- In an odd contract note, they said that CBS can sue them for five million dollars if they leave sequester.
- Sheila told Natalie that Joshuah and Sharon are the only couple left in the game. Um, what about Sheila and Adam? How could she forget herself?
In bizarre house news, faces with masks are appearing in the windows of the house. One looked like Edvard Munch’s “The Scream.” Joshuah saw them first and the reflection could be seen on the feeds, so it’s not a prank or in his mind. Then there was an outdoor lockdown which means BB did something inside the house. Usually it’s something like clean the guinea pig cage or fix a camera. This time they hid a plastic rat in the icebox which was once again discovered by Joshuah. The houseguests think it might be for footage for the April Fool’s Day show and expect to find more as the evening goes on.
