The Game Plan Movie Trailer

The Game Plan

I must admit, I’m a fan of The Rock. I think he could be the next big action star, if he got the right roles. And the fact that his new film, Disney’s The Game Plan was shot in my hometown (and at the New England Patriots’ Gillette Stadium), with a few of my close friends on screen, it should be hard for me to not like this film. I mean, for months I’ve actually been excited to see it. Disney has made a couple good sports films, and a bunch of bad ones. Unfortunately, The Game Plan looks like it could be one of the aforementioned clunkers. The Rock has a huge sense of comic timing, and that if not anything else, is very evident in this trailer.  Check out the new trailer after the jump and decide for yourself. Could this be to The Rock what Mr. Nanny was to Hulk Hogan?

The movie follows an NFL quarterback living the bachelor lifestyle who discovers that he has a 7-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. The film also stars Kyra Sedgwick. Yes, this is the movie where The Rock sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon injury which forced the studio to postpone production for a few months. Although no official release date has been announced, we expect this one to hit theaters sometime during the 2007 football season.

The Game Plan Movie Poster

The Game Plan Movie PosterLast night we posted the movie trailer for The Rock’s new family sports comedy film The Game Plan (groan). Cinematical has released the theatrical poster, which looks even worse. As always, left click to see a larger version.

I think our friend Chris at Movie Marketing Madness said it best: “Note to all studio executives, Big, manly guys with a reputation for action movies all of a sudden being thrown into a domestic situation with a cute kid is a pitch that should be avoided.”

And yes, this does remind us of Vin Diesel’s The Pacifier all over again. The new poster also confirmes the Fall (aka Football Season) release date.

Faith Hill: The New Voice Of The NFL

Faith Hill: The New Voice Of The NFL

There’s always that familiar song at the beginning of football broadcasts that signifies the impending clash of two teams.  And this year, that song will be sung by none other than country hottie Faith Hill.

The NBC Sunday Night Football song, “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” was Pink’s gig last season.  And Faith is thrilled to be taking over the crooning duties for this upcoming year.

She told press, “I’m honored to have been asked.  I truly am a football fan. Particularly, men find it hard to believe that women can be big fans of football, but I love it. I loved it in junior high and high school, but being married to a man who schedules his life around football games, it makes it a lot easier.”

And her new gig has the This Kiss singer feeling grateful that football is a family tradition.  “Around our house in football season there’s a big routine.  Dinner has to be planned out around the game, homework has to be finished. It’s an all-gather-around the television time.  I’ve learned when to ask questions and when not to ask them - like in the middle of a replay.”

You can also catch Faith performing live in Indianapolis on September 6th during the season-opening Colts/Saints game.

Did Jessica Simpson Split Underwood and Romo?

Did Jessica Simpson Split Underwood and Romo?

What the heck is going on?  That’s what Carrie Underwood must be thinking right about now.  Her relationship with Dallas Cowboy’s quarterback Tony Romo has been put on hold for a second time, and Jessica Simpson may be behind it.

According to MSNBC’s report from the National Enquirer, Tony has requested that Miss Underwood give him some space for the upcoming football season.  Since practice starts in July and the season lasts until January, that’s a long time for Carrie to be on her own.

“Carrie thought that they were moving closer to a more committed relationship,” a source close to Underwood told the Enquirer.  And now she’s upset.  “Carrie wants a firm commitment from Tony.” And it doesn’t look like she’ll get it.

It seems that Mr. Football is more concerned with one Jessica Simpson.  Ted Casablanca of E! Online says that Miss Simpson may already be in the picture. “Tony invited (Jessica) to Dallas, and she’s going,” an insider claimed. “Of course, he doesn’t want Carrie to find out.” The source went on to say that they’re already spending lots of time together, as in entire weekends.

One has to wonder how John Mayer is taking all this.  Maybe he and Carrie Underwood can find some romance together?
