NBC stars sing about family - VIDEO

NBC logoOh, they don’t make ’em like this anymore.

After the jump is a video from the NBC 60th Anniversary show in 1986 (very interesting). It’s rather surreal. We get to see Bea Arthur, Nell Carter, Charlotte Rae (Mrs. Garrett from Facts of Life), Marla Gibbs, and Alfonso Ribiero sing a song about “family.” That’s the NBC family, that is, as all of them were starring on shows at the time (Facts of Life, Golden Girls, Gimme A Break, 227, and Silver Spoons). Punky Brewster herself makes an appearance too, but only to say three words and gives a thumbs up. Barbara Eden introduces the song. The most cringe-worthy moment isn’t any of the singing, it’s when Gibbs and Carter pass each other on the stairs and casually say that they love each other’s shows.

Can you imagine a network doing this now? I want to see Hugh Laurie, Stewie, the guys from Prison Break, Marge Simpson, and Gordon Ramsay get on stage at the next Emmy Awards and sing about the FOX family.

FOX plans to air Family Guy DVD

family guy />Next spring FOX plans on airing the recent Family Guy DVD. href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000A3DFV8/qid=1135435524/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-7946977-7699023?v=glance&s=dvd" target="_blank">Stewie
Griffin: The Untold Story was released back on September 27th, but FOX believes there is still some worth in
televising the DVD months after it hit store shelves. The episodes, when aired, will be split into three parts, which
is how they are pieced together on the DVD. It tells the story of Stewie’s search for his real father. When FOX begins
to air promos for these "episodes" next spring, there will be little to no reference that they are indeed
being drawn from the DVD. I don’t really see a problem with this; I mean, it is Family Guy, which people are
going to watch no matter what… even if this does seem a little backwards going from DVD to TV and not the other way
around.

Seth MacFarlane and other writers sue FOX over Family Guy

Family GuyThis must be the day for TV networks being sued. Earlier today Joel told you about China suing CNN for over a billion dollars, and now comes news that Family Guy creator/producer Seth MacFarlane and 15 of his colleagues on the show are suing 20th Century Fox.

The 16 writers claim that the studio not only didn’t give them the right credit onscreen for the work they did on the Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story movie, but they also didn’t pay the writers for the 12 minutes of extra footage that was made for the DVD. The lawsuit accuses Fox of breach of contract and deceit. It’s interesting how this show was canceled and only brought back because of strong DVD sales, and now a DVD is causing tension between the writers and the studio.

No word yet on how much money or damages the group is seeking. I wonder if the lawsuit will make its way into an episode of the show?
