Will Smith’s Family Time at “Hancock” Premiere

Will Smith’s Family Time at “Hancock” Premiere

At last night’s Hollywood premiere of “Hancock”, Will Smith made a strong statement about his priorities by bringing his wife and kids along to the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.

The “I Am Legend” hunk posed proudly with his family, sporting a black and white checked three-piece suit with a white button-up shirt and a black tie.  Wife Jada Pinkett-Smith looked gorgeous in a sleeveless floor-length green evening gown.  And their three kids Trey, Jaden, and Willow looked thrilled to be there.

In related news, the private school funded by the Pinkett-Smiths is getting all kinds of media attention as of late.  Over the weekend, the LA Times published an article about the New Village Academy, discussing everything from its inclusion of Scientology principles in the curriculum to the global education policy.

FOX News reports, “According to the school’s mission statement, students ‘recycle plastic bottles at 10 cents per bottle. Once we have $100 (1,000 bottles) we have enough money to buy a goat for a village in Africa, which can ensure the survival of this village.’”

However, critics of this policy are arguing that rather than goats, rural Africans need schools, and the $100 per goat would be better spent on school supplies as well as shoes, electricity, irrigation, and medical supplies.

Burning Q’s: Hubbard Buddies & Premiere Snacks

Will Smith, Tom Cruise

Does an association with Scientology weaken an actor’s star power? Aren’t there elements of Scientology in the new school that Will Smith is helping build? Hasn’t he denied involvement with Scientology?Emerald Arts, Australia

In order of your asking: (1) No, unless he/she starts yapping about it and jumping on couches, in which case, yes. (2) Yes. Per Fox News, the New Village Academy in Calabasas, Calif., which is getting $1 million from Will Smith, plans to implement several teaching techniques first developed by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. (3) Right. Smith’s rep has said the actor is not a Scientologist. But then again, Smith has said he has studied elements of it through Tom Cruise.

Now go ahead and digest all that while I move on to more of your Burning Q’s!

So I was just looking at the photos of the Sex and the City ladies at the premiere, and it got me thinking: Do the celebs really sit through the movies at the premieres?Allison J.

Sometimes. Years ago, I saw Uma Thurman sit through the premiere of Kill Bill: Vol. 1. But many times, the stars just show up for the red carpet, enter the theater and sneak out before the credits roll.

What kind of food is served at movie premieres? Are common people allowed in? Do you have to pay for the popcorn and Cokes? Bill, Atlanta

Free popcorn and sodas are the norm. Common people are never allowed in, unless they get an advance ticket from someone running the event.

Answer B!tch, you are the best! I love the way you talk and the phraseology you use! Keep it up, there is no better entertainment! Theresa, Savannah, Ga.

I know it, especially now that the crew of Battlestar Galactica have had every last scrap of hope squeezed out of themserves you right for believing in that old-timey religion, stupid president lady!and the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 have gone on to…something. I forget already.

Oh, and be my fan on Facebook, ’kay?

Nas Album Brings the N-Bomb

Nas won't just be dropping a new album on Dec. 11, he'll also be dropping an N-bomb.

After Def Jam denied reports that the rapper was planning to name his next album Nigga, Nas has ratcheted up the controversy by saying that he would instead use the epithet's correct spelling for the title of the disc, which he confirmed will be released on Dec. 11.

"[People] shouldn't trip off the title. The songs are crazier than the title," he told MTV News.

But trip off is exactly what several key civil rights players did.

"The title using the N-word is morally offensive and socially distasteful. Nas has the right to degrade and denigrate in the name of free speech, but there is no honor in it," said the Reverend Jesse Jackson in a statement.

"Radio and television stations have no obligation to play it, and self-respecting people have no obligation to buy it. I wish he would use his talents to lift up and inspire, not degrade."

Earlier this week, Fox News' Website published a story quoting an insider for Nas' label, Def Jam, dismissing remarks Nas made during a recent concert. The hip-hop star told the crowd at New York City's Roseland Ballroom of his plans to use Nigga as the title.

"There is no album release by Nas on the release schedule at this point," the label source told Fox News. "And they would be unlikely to release an album with that title. How would that look at Wal-Mart?"

The big-box chain notoriously refuses to stock albums featuring any kind of profanity.

However, the "Hate Me Now" purveyor told MTV News that he didn't "know where that [Fox News report] came from and neither does Def Jam."

The label did not return calls Friday.

Holed up in a Manhattan studio where's he's about two weeks from completing the album, Nas also blasted his critics, claiming the title is intended to deprive the epithet of its awful connotations.

"I wanna make the word easy on muthaf—as' ears," he told MTV News. "You see how white boys ain't mad at 'cracker' 'cause it don't have the same [sting] as 'n—er'? I want 'n—er' to have less meaning [than] 'cracker.' With all the bulls–t that's going on in the world, racism is at its peak. I wanna do the s–t that's not being done. I wanna be the artist who ain't out. I wanna make the music I wanna hear."

In July, the NAACP held a mock funeral to bury the N-word from public discourse. The organization's brain trust feels that casual uses of the derogatory nickname can have the adverse effect of popularizing its use.

Not so, says Nas.

"Whether you in the NAACP or you Jesse Jackson, I respect all of them," he continued. "Right now, we're on a whole new movement. We're taking power from that word."

A representative for the NAACP was unavailable for comment.

Nas says he will unleash the first single from the new recording after the release of a Greatest Hits album, hitting stores on Nov. 6.

Kim Kardashian’s Fabulous 27th Birthday Party

Kim Kardashian’s Fabulous 27th Birthday Party

Her new show “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” is an instant hit, and Kim Kardashian couldn’t be happier.  And at her 27th birthday party last night at Los Angeles hot spot Les Deux, the Armenian Princess partied it up with friends and family.

Kim wore an amazing flesh-tone, knee-length dress, complete with crystal accents.  And her trademark booty was in full force as she danced the night away.

Funny enough, Kim doesn’t consider herself a typical party girl in Hollywood, and she’s hoping her new show will disprove the false image people have of her.  She recently told US Weekly, “I am really excited because I feel like there are so many misconceptions of what us Hollywood girls are really like. We are so different from what people would think and I think everyone is going to be shocked.”

She continued, “Everyone thinks that I am this wild party girl and that I get drunk and dance on tables, but I don’t even drink alcohol. We (she and sisters Khloe and Kourtney) own businesses and we work every single day and we have 10 kids in the family and we did not grow up with nannies.”

Judging from the pictures of her birthday party, Kim may need to reexamine her own self-awareness.

To find out more about Kim’s party, check out what Fox News’ Pop Tarts (who were at the shindig) had to say.
