Pacey returns to TV in Abrams latest project

Joshua JacksonAccording to Entertainment Weekly, Joshua Jackson, better known for his role as Pacey Witter in Dawson’s Creek, has just been cast as one of the leading men in J.J. Abrams’ latest TV project, Fringe. Fear not Grey’s Anatomy fans, Fringe is shooting its 2-hour pilot this month (with a tiny budget of $10 million dollars), so it’s likely that the actor will be able to free himself to shoot his guest stint on the ABC show when production resumes.

Around mid-November, it was revealed that the actor was set to guest star in a few episodes of Grey’s Anatomy as a potential love interest for Cristina. When news of the strike arrived, his stint was delayed. As of mid-January, insiders were reporting that Jackson was still set to appear on the show. But now that he is officially attached to the new sci-fi mystery FOX series, I guess his storyline on GA may be trashed or that they will recast the role if they can’t make shooting schedules match.

Fringe should appeal to fans of shows like The X-Files. The series revolves around a unit investigating sci-fi cases. Jackson is set to play a member of that team. EW reports that the show also features a “gifted yet possibly insane scientist dad” played by John Noble and a FBI agent played by Anna Torv. IMDb.com reveals that actors Lance Reddick, Charlotte Rampling, Kirk Acevedo, and Blair Brown are also attached.

The X Files 2 Title Announced: What Do You Think?

xfile-2-11.jpg

Here at the pizza crust strewn Slashfilm HQ, we’re having ourselves a game called, “X Files Subtitle or B-side By Journey?” It usually only lasts one round, but hey! You see, today the official title for July’s sequel was approved by 20th Century Fox. Series creator and director Chris Carter got the title he wanted. So, what is it?

The X Files: I Want to Believe

A friend of mine just said, “It sounds like a direct-to-DVD sequel for Angels In the Outfield.” Not sure what I think, but the title will do a swell job of making the film stand out in the marketplace. Worth a double take and gets the mind spinning. If you’re not familiar with the series, the subtitle is a recurring mantra of sorts for David Duchovny’s conflicted Agent Mulder. Here’s what Chris Carter told the AP

“It’s a natural title,” Carter said in a telephone interview Tuesday during a break from editing the film. “It’s a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. `I Want to Believe.’ It really does suggest Mulder’s struggle with his faith.”

Discuss: What Do You Think of the new X Files title? Will it connect with non-fans?

SuperBad director Greg Mottola to helm Adventureland

Adventureland

Breaking News: Judd Apatow didn’t direct SuperBad. That’s right, he was only the producer. I feel like everyone including the studio were trying to keep this fact secret. And it makes sense, Judd Apatow is now the new hot name brand in comedy movies (does anyone remember this is the same guy who once produced and wrote Heavy Weights and Celtic Pride? IMDb never forgets!). Greg Mottola is actually the guy who made the film (he also made The Daytrippers in 1996 and the failed Apatow Fox series Undeclared). So now that he’s made a successful film, everyone wants to know - what is he doing next? (Okay, everyone doesn’t want to know, because most people still think he’s Judd Apatow, but we’re trying to correct that people!)

JoBlo has the exclusive news that Mottola has signed on to direct Adventureland, a period comedy film set in the 1980’s which follows a college graduate who was prepared to spend his summer in Europe before starting Grad School. But when his father is laid off, he is now stuck at his home in Long Island, NY. He is forced to bet a job at a local amusement park called Adventureland “where comedy abounds and he falls in love.”

When I was a kid, we had an amusement park very close to my home (it’s now actually a Six Flags). So every year I would visit the park more than a few times (especially as I became older in age). I always thought that working at an amusement park must lead to some interesting stories. Sure, it’s probably a crappy minimum wage job, but those are usually the jobs that result in the best tales (I know I have quite a few from my adventures working at a convenience store).  And I can only imagine the type of fun that could have ensued in a huge theme park with tons of other teenage workers.

The film is apparently based on Mottola’s own experiences at Long Island’s actual Adventureland. Filming is set to begin this October in Pittsburgh. I’m now very interested. I wonder if Disney will contest the title?

Rachel Bilson’s Top 5 Fashion

Rachel Bilson’s Top 5 Fashion

Ever since she became a household name on her hit FOX series The O.C. Rachel Bilson has been a charming addition to the entertainment industry.  But she hasn’t forgotten where she came from.

The “Last Kiss” babe was spotted out and about in West Hollywood yesterday spending some quality time with her mother.

They stopped into Gelson’s supermarket to grab a few items before heading back to Rachel’s pad to hang out.  And from their coordinated skirts and stockings, it looks like the apple stayed pretty close to the tree.

Speaking of fashion, according to Glamour’s UK magazine, Miss Bilson ranked fourth on the “Best Dressed In Britain” list.  Ahead of her were Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, and Scarlett Johansson, with Jennifer Aniston rounding out the top 5.
