Wanted To Become A Trilogy?

I saw Wanted the other day and I enjoyed it. Good action, nice twist towards the end and of course, Angelina Jolie. It seems a lot of people thought the same as me because it did rather well for an R-Rated movie. It is the second biggest opening that didn’t reach number #1 (damn you Wall-E!) and has already made back its budget with a total of $90 million as I type.
Universal are currently choking on money, and when they finally spit it out there is a good chance they will be wanting more. (See what I did there? The movie is called Wanted and I said ‘wanting’ and made it italic…I’m hilarious!)
Cinema Blend are saying that a source told them that Universal want to go international next time round. Spoilers below.
For the sequels their idea is to take Wanted international, and have James McAvoy’s Wesley character fighting Fraternity cells all over the world. It seems Sloane isn’t the only Fraternity leader who has been ignoring the instructions of fate, it’s something that’s been happening for centuries, and that means a lot of Sloane’s peers are now pretty pissed off at Wesley.
They also say:
It’s surprising, since by the end of the film both Jolie and Freeman’s characters are quite definitively dead. That’s no barrier for Hollywood though. The plan is to involve them in flashbacks which will explore the past of Angelina Jolie’s Fox, and allow us to meet the man who trained and recruited her. That person could become a major villain in the sequels, which would explain the flashback links to Jolie and Freeman.
Bring it on I say!
BSG’s Crashdown cast as Smallville’s Doomsday
In early May, we told you that Smallville was looking at adding two new characters to fill in the void left my some major departures (read here Lex, less Lana, and no more Lionel, since the character got killed). The two characters were that of Doomsday, the only DC Comics character to have killed Superman, and Tess, a female villain set to take care of Lex’s estate.
Gossip columnist Michael Ausiello reports on his website that the show finally cast both roles. Battlestar Galactica’s Sam Witwer was cast as a reviewed/revamped version of Doomsday while newcomer Cassidy Freeman will play Tess.
Slight spoilers about both roles coming up!
Here is what we know about both characters:
Doomsday: Since this is Smallville, don’t expect the character to be exactly like he is in the DC Comics. Doomsday is one of the hot bartenders at Ace of Clubs. He is known as Davis Bloome, a man in his 20s. According to the spoilers we’ve received so far, it’s unclear if Davis knows he is Doomsday. However, the man does know something is wrong with him. He even tells Lois, who is now a regular at Ace of Clubs, that there is something inside of him that he can’t control. According to some casting notice, Davis will be introduced in a scene with Lois.
Tess: This woman in her 20s will set her sights on Clark in ways Lex never could. She is now in control of Lex’s estate while he is missing. According to earlier reports from Ausiello, Lex saved Tess’ life years ago and, since then, she’s been devoting her life to him. According to casting notices, Tess will be introduced in a scene with Clark at the Kent Farm.
Supposedly, Doomsday would be a regular character while Tess will be at least recurring. Witwer seems a nice choice to play Davis Bloome. However, I’m not too sure about Cassidy Freeman, especially since the new producers told in a press release that Tess would “be familiar to many fans.” Since the actress is unknown to fans right now, it will be difficult to make the character “familiar” to them.
What do you think of this casting news? Do you think the actors were the right choices for both roles?
