What Would McConaughey Do?
As the long weekend recedes and we face many hot weeks before the next one, we will lower our blood pressure, combat high gas prices and find inner peace by embracing our inner shirtless dude.
We will think Matthew McConaughey thoughts. And possibly call in sick next Monday.
Anyway, that’s the plan. Put your chilling techniques in the comments.
Jennifer Aniston Rides the John Mayer Express
Jennifer Aniston has resorted to taking the bus these days, and it has nothing to do with the summer’s sky-high gas prices.
E! News has learned that actress is not just attending boyfriend John Mayer’s concerts. She’s gone groupie, joining him on his tour bus.
Mayer kicked off the U.S. leg of his summer road show Wednesday night, with Aniston by his side backstage. The couple arrived together at the 2008 Milwaukee Summerfest at the Marcus Amphitheater on his rig.
“They were on John’s tour bus hanging out most of the time before the show,” Kristi Chuckel, publicist for Summerfest, tells News.
Mayer went on at 9 p.m. and played for about two hours. All the while, his No. 1 band aide was watching from the side.
“She was backstage standing in the wings, hanging out and watching the show,” says Chuckel.
And it looks like she was enjoying herself.
Karra Barnes, a Mayer fan who also saw Aniston backstage, tells News, “She seemed pretty into it. She supports him greatly, you can tell.
“John Mayer also seems to be playing with a lot more passion. I saw him last year at Summerfest, and he was very passionate then, but now something seems a little different about him.”
Perhaps it has something to do with his ride share?
Mayer, presumably with his Friend in tow, plays tonight at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, Mo.
Would you give up TV for gas?
This just might be child abuse.
OK, I’m kidding, but I know this would have freaked me out when I was a kid. A mom in Salt Lake City was spending so much money on cable television that she had to cancel it so she’d have money to commute to work. And what did her kids do? They protested, of course! The woman’s two daughters, Pyper and Sadie (two very television character-ish names) got out protest signs and started walking up and down the streets to protest the high price of gas. And in a remarkable twist, the big oil companies saw the protest the girls created and have decided to lower gas prices all across America starting immediately.
Well, no, but the girls did get in the paper! (By the way, I think the AP really has to change the pic that accompanies the link above, unless the girls’ protest went really far.)
The article doesn’t say whether or not the family got rid of TV altogether or just cable. The girls are probably upset that they’re missing Mad Men and Rescue Me, saying “the networks just aren’t what they used to be, with all of the reality shows and repeats. The quality scripted shows are on cable now, everybody knows that. I just hope that SAG comes to an agreement with the studios like AFTRA did.”
I think the girls should open a lemonade stand to help pay for the cable. I’m sure you folks have other suggestions for the parents on how they can get television back into their home.
Hillary Clinton and Bill O’Reilly: chemistry? - VIDEO
There’s another Bill in Hillary Clinton’s life now. Talk show pundit Bill O’Reilly, who interviewed Clinton on his Fox News show, The O’Reilly Factor this week. The interview covered a lot of territory, including the economy, high gas prices, illegal immigrants, the war on terror, and foreign policy.
All the presidential candidates have their strengths and weaknesses, but Clinton made a smart move towards unifying her platform by agreeing to the O’Reilly interview. Although they’re on opposite ends of the spectrum politically, O’Reilly and Clinton showed that two diverse personalities can sit down together and have an intelligent debate about the issues without resorting to a screaming match.
O’Reilly fired some tough questions at Clinton, but he remained polite and respectful. Likewise, Clinton was confident, controlled, and didn’t back down from any questions. She continues to campaign tirelessly day after day, and the O’Reilly interview will go a long way in edging her towards the White House.
O’Reilly and Clinton even had a little chemistry going, poking fun at themselves and each other in a way that said ’we’re serious, but we can have fun, too.’ When asked if she was surprised that Fox News had been fairer to her than NBC News and other liberal news networks, Clinton replied, “I wouldn’t expect anything less than a ’fair and balanced’ coverage of my campaign,” tossing the Fox News tagline back at O’Reilly.
With Barack Obama feeling the fallout from the Rev. Wright controversy over the past few weeks, Clinton continues to gain steam by agreeing to interviews with folks like O’Reilly. Clearly, she can hold her own with anyone. Read a transcript of the interview on FoxNews.com, and check out the clip below.
I found the interview riveting. What’s your take on it?
