Carell Turns Tables/Desk on Kimmel
We hope Get Smart isn’t as bad as the reviews, but we doubt it’ll be as good as Steve Carell’s bit last night swapping places with the host last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Jimmy treads water painfully/hilariously while pretending to be Carell, who in turn fakes sincerity so well while playing host Jimmy that we wouldn’t be surprised to see Steve behind a talk-show desk some day.
Movie Reviews: Get Smart vs. The Love Guru
This was supposed to be a big weekend for comedy, with both Mike Myers and Steve Carell cranking it up to 11 for your pleasurewith a little Timberlake thrown in. But we’ve seen the results, and your choice is between bad and really bad. Or The Incredible Hulk.
Get Smart: A mediocre spoof, with two bickering spies (Carell vs. Anne Hathaway) trying to thwart a plan to nuke L.A. But the gags fall flat, and those two have no chemistry, maknig this another big summer movie that should have heeded its title’s advice. Grade: C
The Love Guru: Myers does the same character he always does, just with a new accent. So you’re in for frozen grins, urination scenes, midget jokes, blatant product placement and that annoying “promised myself I wouldn’t cry!” thing he does. Grade: D
Anne Hathaway and Steve Carell: Get Smart in Soho
Anne Hathaway and Steve Carell: Get Smart in Soho
Yesterday, you could get a new iPhone and meet Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway all in one shot by visiting the Apple store in the SoHo district of New York City.
That’s right, the stars of the new spy/spoof movie “Get Smart” were in the house for an exclusive “Meet the Actors” event, fielding questions and having a great time.
The newly-single “Devil Wears Prada” babe rocked a conservative-yet-sexy black v-neck sleeveless minidress with a pair of shiny heels, while the “Office” funnyman opted for a grey suit.
Carell recently told press that he enjoyed stepping out of his usual comedic role to play a spy. “When we first discussed it, we wanted it to be a legitimate spy movie that’s also funny. I wanted it to hold up, with characters that could potentially exist and situations that had stakes to them … we are not people you’d normally see in an action movie, and I think that’s part of the comedy.”
Steve Carell, an Action Star with Great Sneakers
Funny guy, that Steve Carell, and he brought his game to our interview for Get Smart recently. Hit the clip to see what he tells me about his action-flick chops and the only nice thing costar/hottie Anne Hathaway ever said to him.
