Matthew McConaughey: It’s a Boy!
Matthew McConaughey is a proud new pop. (Although someone should probably tell him that all new babies arrive sans shirt.)
The ab-fab actor and his girlfriend, Brazilian model Camila Alves, welcomed a 7-pound, 4-ounce boy, their first child together, Monday evening, News confirms.
The youngster was born at 6:44 p.m., according to McConaughey’s rep.
But while this may cut into the Texan’s time for sojourns to Nicaragua and lazy days on the beach with Lance, the Sahara star sounds more than ready to embrace daddyhood.
“A healthy baby boy was born,” McConaughey said tonight in a statement to OK! magazine.
“Camila and I were side by side the entire time. We are both tired and elated, and are so happy to have created the greatest miracle in the worldhaving a child and making a family. Now comes the greatest adventureraising one, together.”
McConaughey first spread the good news of Alva’s expectant status on his reggae-playing website.
“My girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together,” McConaughey blogged in January.
“It’s 3 months growin in her womb and all looks healthy and lively so far. We are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God, and so excited for the adventure that will come in raising this child, being mother and a father, and shepherding him or her through this life.”
McConaughey’s mother added her own rapturous comments to the site a few days later: “Just when I think life cannot get any ’SWEETER,’ Matthew and Camila fill life with more…so here I am DRINKING FROM MY SAUCER, BECAUSE MY CUP IS INDEED OVERFLOWING WITH THIS NEW BABY,” she wrote.
The child’s name has not yet been released.
Oscar De La Hoya & Wife Have a Baby
Boxing champ Oscar De La Hoya and his wife, Millie Corretjer, have welcomed their first child, PEOPLE has learned.
Their son, Oscar Gabriel, was born on Dec. 29 and weighed in at 9 lbs. 7 oz.
“It is with great joy that we share the arrival of our long awaited gift from God,” the couple said in a statement. “We thank God that we are all healthy. We are now enjoying this moment with our family as we begin this new journey. In this season, we wish everyone much happiness and blessings just like we are enjoying ourselves with our son. Happy New Year! ”
De La Hoya, 32, and Corretjer, a 31-year-old Puerto Rican pop singer, were married Oct. 5, 2001. The couple met in 2000, when both were signed to the same record label. (De La Hoya’s debut CD that year earned a Grammy nod.) The boxer has two other children Jacob, 7, and Atiana, 6, from previous relationships.

With baby fever sweeping through Hollywood as of late, Matthew McConaughey is the latest celeb to announce an upcoming birth. He and girlfriend Camila Alves (a Brazilian model) will reportedly become parents together in 2008.
The “Dazed and Confused” actor declared on his website, “My girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together. It’s 3 months growin in her womb and all looks healthy and lively so far. We are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God, and so excited for the adventure that will come in raising this child, being mother and a father, and shepherding him or her through this life.”
According to the “Failure to Launch” actor’s rep, “He is euphoric. He couldn’t be happier.” After all, it was about time for Matthew to pass on those beautiful genes.
Matthew added, via his website, “Wish us the best, keep us in your prayers, and God bless evolution. Thanks for being fans of me and my work and now this new and miraculous chapter in my life, as me and Camila and our child do our best to just keep living.”

Matthew McConaughey and girlfriend Camila Alves are expecting a child, the actor announced Tuesday on his Web site.
“My girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together,” McConaughey writes. “It’s 3 months growin in her womb and all looks healthy and lively so far. We are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God, and so excited for the adventure that will come in raising this child, being mother and a father, and shepherding him or her through this life.”
McConaughey adds: “Wish us the best, keep us in your prayers, and God bless evolution. Thanks for being fans of me and my work and now this new and miraculous chapter in my life, as me and Camila and our child do our best to just keep living.”

McConaughey, 38, met Alves, 24, a Brazilian model whose family moved to L.A. when she was young, more than a year ago. Since then, they have been together constantly – and often in the Ocean – riding the waves last year from Australia, where he filmed Fool’s Gold, to the Bahamas, where he shot the comedy Surfer Dude.
“He is euphoric. He couldn’t be happier,” says his rep Alan Nierob.
Longtime McConaughey pal Mark Gustawes, who is producing Surfer Dude, says the couple are “incredibly happy.”
“I can only hope that one day the love I have with the woman carrying my child is equivalent to the love Matthew and Camila share,” says Gustawes. “That’s a tall bar. In my opinion, the child will be raised with more love than it knows what to do with.”
