Extra’s Dayna Devon Has Son Two Weeks Early
Dayna Devon, cohost of TV’s Extra, and her husband, plastic surgeon Brent Moelleken, welcomed their second child, a boy, on Friday.
Cole Brent Moelleken was born by cesarean section and weighed 8 lbs., 2 oz. He was delivered two weeks early because Devon had developed excessive amniotic fluid that might have been dangerous to the baby.
Cole experienced fluid in the lungs but is doing well and expected to go home Monday, according to Devon’s rep.
“Thank goodness I had a c-section delivery because this is not a baby, he’s a linebacker,” Devon said in a statement. “Brent and I are grateful he’s doing so well, even though the first couple days were stressful. His big sister Emmi, who is 16 months old, doesn’t quite get it yet, but we are now going to be a happy family unit of four.”
Devon, 36, and Moelleken, 46, welcomed their first child, daughter Emmi Reese, in September 2005. “Our elation and joy are beyond expectation,” Devon told PEOPLE at the time.
Devon, a Texas native, has been a regular cohost on Extra since 2003. She joined the show as a weekend co-anchor in 1999. Besides Extra, she has appeared – usually playing a reporter – on TV shows including The West Wing, Charmed, Gilmore Girls and Desperate Housewives.
Scott Patterson: In the Limelight
It may be unusual to devote an “In the Limelight” feature to a series regular on a popular TV show, but if you are like me, you have no idea in which TV series Scott Patterson appeared besides Gilmore Girls. You don’t know if he ever was in movies or did theater work, etc.
Since Gilmore Girls is ending forever (sniff), I guess it’s time we get to know Patterson a bit more as it may help us prepare for what he’ll do next.
The 49-year-old actor was born in Philadelphia on September 11, 1958, but was raised in New Jersey. The actor studied comparative literature, but eventually dropped out in favor of baseball. Between 1980 and 1988, Patterson was drafted into the minor leagues as a pitcher where he played with the New York Yankees, the Atlanta Braves and the Texas Rangers (some sources also list the Los Angeles Dodgers) before ending his baseball career. He eventually studied acting with Robert Lewis and Sondra Lee, two renowned New York acting coaches. He even worked at The Actors Studio where he appeared in many stage productions.
He really started to work on TV and in movies in the early 1990s. TV fans may remember him portraying Billy, a man deemed “sponge worthy” by Elaine, on the famous Seinfeld episode “The Sponge.” He also made guest appearances on many other TV series such as Silk Stalkings, Arli$$ and Will & Grace. Most of his guest starring roles consisted of him romancing one of the leading ladies. He also voices the character of Lieutenant Farraday in the animated series Justice League Unlimited.
Scott Patterson also appeared in various movies such as Little Big League (a movie that would keep him in his element: baseball) and Three Wishes with Patrick Swayze. He also starred in various made-for-TV and independent movies. In September 2007, fans will be able to see Patterson in Her Best Move, a family comedy about 15-year-old soccer prodigy Sara Davis. According to IMDb.com, he is rumored to appear in Saw IV.
The actor also has musical talents. According to Wikipedia, he co-founded a soft-rock band The Happy Birthdays with host Marc Summers.

David Sutcliffe is sticking around Private Practice - VIDEO
Last fall, Gilmore Girls’ David Sutcliffe appeared in two episodes of ABC’s Private Practice, the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off. His guest starring stint as a potential love interest for lead character Addison (played by Kate Walsh) was set to last a few episodes but was cut short due to the writers strike.
Since the last episode of PP’s short season aired, it was unknown if the actor would return as Officer Kevin Nelson, a cop that caught Addison’s interest. The actor’s schedule could have changed, the writers could have decided to bench his character, who knows?
Sutcliffe fans, fear not! In the latest edition of the “Ausiello Report Vodcast Scoop,” Michael Ausiello interviewed Sutcliffe (the interview starts at the 1:17 mark in the video below) and was able to get confirmation that the actor will return to Private Practice.
The actor will be back for a sizable multi-episode arc next season. Sutcliffe confirmed that he’ll appear in at least 11 episodes of the show’s second season to woo Kate Walsh’s character.
Production for the second season of the series resumed earlier this month. Private Practice will return this fall on ABC.
Melissa McCarthy: In the Limelight
The name Melissa McCarthy doesn’t ring a bell? No, she’s not Jenny McCarthy’s sister (she’s her cousin). You probably know Melissa under the name Sookie St.James, Lorelai’s best friend on Gilmore Girls.
This gifted actress has appeared in over 20 different TV and movie projects in the past 10 years but mostly devoted her time to Gilmore, appearing in more than 150 episodes of the series.
The 37-year-old actress from Plainfield, Illinois, first performed on stage. She started her acting career by doing stand up and improv in New York. She attended The Actors Studio, where she studied drama. This led to a bunch of acting gigs in stage productions. When she moved to Los Angeles, the actress joined The Groundlings as a main cast member of this improv and sketch troupe.
McCarthy made her first TV appearance in 1997 on her cousin’s show, The Jenny McCarthy Show. This gig led to movies such as Go and Drowning Mona. Later in her career, McCarthy appeared in other movies like Charlie’s Angels, White Oleander, and The Life of David Gale.
So far in her career, the actress appeared on a total of six TV shows. This may not seem like a lot but remember that McCarthy appeared on 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls. She portrayed a character named Molly on the very short lived WB’s D.C., appeared as a saleswoman on Curb Your Enthusiasm, and voiced DNAmy on Kim Possible. She currently plays lovable Dena on ABC’s Samantha Who?.
McCarthy is married to Ben Falcone, also an actor. His name may not ring a bell but he played Howard on the Friends spin-off Joey. They have a daughter together.
You can watch this lovely actress, who is an inspiration for a lot of plus size women, every Monday on ABC’s Samantha Who?.
