Winehouse Out of the Sick House
Amy Winehouse is out. Time will tell if behavioral changes are in.
A rep for the “Rehab” singer confirms to News that the 24-year-old was officially discharged as a patient from the London Clinic yesterday after a whirlwind stay, which included a diagnosis of early stages of emphysema and two days out to perform at various gigs around England.
“I can confirm that Amy has left the London Clinic and will be treated as an outpatient,” Tracey Miller said.
As an outpatient, Winehouse is expected to return to the hospital for regular checkups. Despite her father’s initial public diagnosis of emphysema, Winehouse’s camp later clarified the singer is suffering from early-stage symptoms of the chronic respiratory disease.
Winehouse was first admitted to the hospital last month after suffering a fainting spell at her home. She was apparently deemed well enough to be excused from the ward on two high-profile occasions, which had two rather varied rates of success.
The first saw a healthy-looking Winehouse take the stage at Nelson Mandela’s special 90th birthday concert, in which she sang two slur-free tunes before returning to the clinic.
The second was more in line with a performance fans have come to expect from the Grammy winner, and took place over the weekend at England’s famed Glastonbury festival. After her performance, a concertgoer threw a hat at her head and, after mistakenly identifying the offending chapeau tosser, Winehouse lashed out and belted a seemingly innocent fan. All of which was, in the great British tabloid tradition, caught on tape.
On the bright side, things can only get better.

She’s been tooling around the UK with her musician lover John Mayer. And last night, Jennifer Aniston returned home to southern California.
The “He’s Just Not That Into You” babe arrived at LAX International Airport last evening looking a bit worn out from her painfully long transatlantic flight.
But she wore the jet-lag well, sporting a grey top underneath a khaki jacket teamed with a pair of jeans and some comfy-looking flip flops as she made her way through the terminal.
As previously reported by the , Jen was busy over the weekend in Europe, most recently checking out Mayer’s gig in the Hyde Park area of London. And as she departed, John was on his way to his gig at the Glastonbury Festival.
No Charges Against Amy Winehouse
No Charges Against Amy Winehouse
Though doctors have warned her that smoking is the last thing she should be doing, Amy Winehouse seemed happy to ignore the advice earlier today (June 30).
The troubled “Rehab” singer paid a visit to the GP and attempted to open the upstairs window to have a smoke. When she was unsuccessful, she headed outside to light up, and was promptly greeted by fans seeking photos and autographs.
As previously reported by the , Winehouse continued her chain of controversy over the weekend when she punched an audience member during her set at the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, England.
Lucky for her, the injured concertgoer isn’t going to press charges, and therefore authorities have no cause to investigate. Following her gig, Amy returned to the clinic for further treatment.

In typical form, Amy Winehouse managed to stir up a little controversy during her performance as part of the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, England on Saturday night (June 28).
According to AP reports, following her hour-long performance with nearly 80,000 spectators on hand, Winehouse climbed down from the Pyramid stage and threw a punch at a fan.
A Canadian Press report tells: “It was unclear what sparked the altercation at the large music and performing arts festival in southwest England, but some witnesses said a fan tried to grab Winehouse.”
After checking out Jay-Z’s performance while standing alongside Beyonce Knowles, the troubled “Rehab” crooner then returned to the clinic she has been staying at to receive treatment for her drug addiction.
An onlooker tells: “Amy appeared worse for wear, and looked somewhat disheveled compared to how healthy she looked leaving the clinic only a few hours before.”
