Kevin McKidd Joining Grey’s Anatomy?

Kevin McKidd on Grey’s Anatomy?Like many people, I was miffed that Journeyman wasn’t picked up for another season. But maybe we’ll get our fix of Kevin McKidd at Seattle Grace next year.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the Scottish actor, who blew (some of) us away as the time-traveling journalist Dan Vasser on Journeyman, is in talks to join the cast of Grey’s Anatomy. The rumor is that McKidd would play a doctor who scrubs in at the hospital after a stint in Iraq.

McKidd played soldier Lucius Vorenus in HBO’s short-lived Rome. You can also catch him in the upcoming films, Bunraku and Dylan, in which he plays Wales poet Dylan Thomas.

Signing on for Grey’s would accomplish a few things in my mind. It would give McKidd’s fans a chance to see him every week. It would give Grey’s Anatomy a much-needed shot in the arm of fresh talent. And it would give the show a ripped-from-the-headlines feel by injecting some world events into the mix. What do you think?

Watch with Kristin Show: See the Future of Grey's Girl Elizabeth Reaser, and Heroes!

I love this girl. That’s what I can tell you after hanging out with Elizabeth Reaser, formerly of Grey’s Anatomy and now the star of CBS’ fall series, The Ex List. Her new show rocks, and she’s one of the coolest chicks you’ll meet—she even let us tag along when she got her very first psychic reading earlier this week. The idea was inspired by her new show, in which a psychic tells her she has one year to reconnect with an ex whom she is meant to marry.

Oh, and if you’re wondering what’s next for Peter and Sylar on Heroes, or Rufus and Lily on Gossip Girl, well, then click in and enjoy the goods!

(P.S. We bleeped the first letter of the name of Elizabeth’s real-life love interest just to make sure we don’t mess with destiny. Who are we to meddle with true love?)

Heigl says she’s staying on Grey’s

K Heigl Grey’s AReports of Katherine Heigl’s exit from Grey’s Anatomy have been greatly exaggerated, and that comes straight from the actress’s mouth. Heigl’s staying on Grey’s Anatomy for the foreseeable future.

In recent weeks, since choosing not to submit her name for Emmy consideration because she was critical of the material she had this past season, speculation has been that the star wants out of the show. Fueling the fire is the fact that in the past year, thanks to Knocked Up (and a lot less to 27 Dresses), Ms. Heigl’s getting many, many offers to jump to the big screen full time.

Life & Style caught up with her last week at L.A.’s Hotel Cafe, where she was watching her husband Josh Kelly, performing. When asked if she would be on Grey’s this season, she said, “Of course, absolutely. Those people are like my family.” She described the set as a happy, joyful place where there’s lots of laughter despite the serious storylines they’re playing.

Well, what do they think she was going to say? She’s contracted for the 2008-9 season and is already filming episodes. If there’s no actor’s strike — we hope — she’s committed to playing Izzie unless and until the producers choose to write her out.

Heigl strikes me as a smart cookie. If she does want to move on, she’d be wise to work with Shonda Rhimes to come up with a way to write Izzie out that’s beneficial to both her and the show. It’s happened on other shows in a positive way, remember George Clooney and ER?

He actually came back (for a scene) to help Juliana Margulies when she left the show. The bottom line is this, you get more with honey than you do with vinegar, so I suggest Heigl think things out carefully before coming to a decision, then playing nice to get what she wants. Whatever that is. Grey’s Anatomy has been good to her. Thanks to that show, she’s now an Emmy-award winner. Sure, she earned it, but they gave her the stage.

Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley Retreat to Cancun

Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley Retreat to Cancun

Now that she’s on hiatus from her hit show “Grey’s Anatomy,” Katherine Heigl is free to do as she pleases.  And it seems she was keen to grab hubby Josh Kelley and head south of the border.

The “27 Dresses” babe and her musically-inclined husband were spotted arriving in Cancun, Mexico yesterday at the beginning of their romantic getaway.

Heigl looked location-appropriate in a red and black southwestern patterned shirt with a dark jacket and a pair of white pants, while Josh rocked a green t-shirt and khaki shorts along with a red Coca-Cola ball cap.

And there are rumors swirling around the gossip mill that Katherine may be considering stepping out of her role as Dr. Izzie Stevens after she pulled herself from this year’s Emmy race.  Her rep was unavailable for comment.
