Jessica Simpson Meets the Parents
Getting a jump-start on her skills as an aunt (her sister Ashlee will be giving birth later this year) Jessica Simpson was spotted carrying a friend’s baby yesterday (July 2).
The “With You” singer was joined by her BFF hairstylist Ken Paves and a few pals for lunch at a restaurant in Santa Monica, California.
And the aspiring country singer was looking her part in a denim jacket overtop a beautiful blue and white printed summer dress teamed with a pair of aviator sunglasses.
According to press, Jessica met her boyfriend Tony Romo’s parents this past weekend. The still-going-strong couple flew out to Janesville, Wisconsin to have dinner with the Romos at their local Olive Garden.
A witness reports that things went well. “She scooted up next to him during the meal. They were acting like a couple. They were laughing. It was just a big family being out.”
Dog Drama For Ellen Degeneres
Dog Drama For Ellen Degeneres
In an unlikely but heartbreaking tale, Ellen DeGeneres has stirred up some serious trouble for a dog rescue shelter.
The story goes, Ellen adopted a dog from a shelter. But when she discovered that her cats didn’t dig the new canine, she immediately gave it to her hairstylist, who has two young kids. Unfortunately, she wasn’t at liberty to do that, hence the shelter intervened and removed the dog from the hairstylist’s home.
Apparently Mutts And Moms, the agency that arranged for DeGeneres to adopt a rescued dog from their shelter, is receiving death and arson threats. The troubling phone calls and emails started after they confiscated the dog that the talk show host gave to her hairstylist’s family.
According to Marina Batkis and Vanessa Chekroun, Ellen had no right to give the dog to her friend, and in doing so she violated the terms of the adoption. And Batkis is sticking to her guns, rejecting DeGeneres’ tearful plea to return the dog to the hairstylist’s family.
Attorney Keith Fink told press, “She (Batkis) doesn’t think this is the type of family that should have the dog. She is adamant that she is not going to be bullied around by the Ellen DeGenereses of the world … They are using their power, position and wealth to try to get what it is they want.”
The rules of adoption, per shelter policy, are that homes with children under 14 are not allowed to receive dogs. “It’s for the safety of the dogs,” said a kennel spokesperson.

Jessica Simpson’s Career Needs Help
Out for a night at Birds in Los Angeles, Jessica Simpson was spotted hauling around a baby crib with her hairstylist, Ken Paves, near her side.
The Dukes of Hazzard actress has been keeping busy - despite what many claim to be a plummeting star status as a result of her father’s poor managing skills.
According to a source for OK! magazine, Jessica is said to be nearing a decision to pull the plug on her professional relationship with her dad, Joe Simpson.
The insider tells, “She wanted to be a movie star and her father wanted her to earn the salary of a movie star. After The Dukes of Hazzard movie, Joe was telling everyone that Jess was the next Julia Roberts, and while the public bought it for a while, the studios never believed it. Now there isn’t much work for Jessica.”
While reps for Miss Simpson deny the OK! source’s claims, the fact that the only roles Jessica seems to be able to get are for self-funded films adds to the speculation that the time is nearing for the With You singer to make some career changes.

Vanessa Hudgens: A Perfect Ten
While Sunday was a working day for Vanessa Hudgens, the High School Musical actress managed to find time to squeeze in a trip to a popular hairstylist before fulfilling her duties of taping a TNT holiday special.
The 18-year-old was spotted getting her hair done up at Andrea Chreky’s Perfect 10 Salon, looking even cuter when she stepped out than when she went in.
From there, it was time to go to work, as Hudgens headed off to The National Building Museum to belt out a song alongside American Idol alum Katharine McPhee and R&B singer Ne-Yo for TNT’s “Christmas In Washington”.
Set to air on Wednesday December 12th at 10PM, the Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw hosted affair will benefit the Children’s National Medical Center.
