Katherine Heigl: “Most Desirable Woman”

Katherine Heigl: “Most Desirable Woman”

Though she was officially taken off the market this past winter with her marriage to musician Josh Kelley, Katherine Heigl still has what it takes to get the guys going.

The “Grey’s Anatomy” hottie was spotted frolicking around her Los Feliz, California home’s pool yesterday looking yummy in a rainbow-striped strapless two-piece bikini.

It was recently announced that the 29-year-old cutie just scored the top spot on AskMen’s Most Desirable Women survey.  And when you consider the competition, it’s even more impressive.

The list is as follows:

2. Alessandra Ambrosio

3. Kate Beckinsale

4. Eva Mendes

5. Jessica Alba

6. Scarlett Johansson

7. Jessica Biel

8. Rihanna

9. Marisa Miller

10. Adriana Lima

Katherine Heigl: Don’t Gimme an Emmy

Katherine Heigl with an Emmy

Katherine Heigl has pulled an Isaiah Washington. (Wait, it’s not what you think!)

Just as her former costar did last spring, albeit for a different reason, the Grey’s Anatomy actress has taken herself out of the running for the upcoming 60th Annual Emmy Awards.

No, last year’s winner for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama isn’t still ticked off that the announcer mispronounced her name as she took the stage to present. (”By the way, it’s Heigl,” she corrected later during her acceptance speech, emphasizing the hard g.)

Instead, Heigl feels that Izzie, who ultimately shared a kiss with Justin Chambers’ Alex when all was said and done, wasn’t given much Emmy-worthy emoting to do this season.

“I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention,” Heigl told the Los Angeles Times Gold Derby blog. “In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials.”

ABC had no comment on Heigl’s decision, which theoretically could be seen as either a gracious move in honor of her fellow thespians or a thumbed nose at the people who put Izzie in all those non-Emmy-warranting situationsthe Grey’s writing team.

While it isn’t an entirely wild notion to excuse oneself from consideration (Candice Bergen did it after hogging the spotlight multiple times for Murphy Brown; Tim Allen actually forgot to submit the paperwork once), it makes us wonder whether the star of such fare as Knocked Up, 27 Dresses and the upcoming The Ugly Truthwho was one of the last Grey’s regulars to ink a contract for a fourth season last yearhas simply outgrown her small-screen launching pad.

The nominations for the 60th Annual Emmy Awards will be announced July 17. The ceremony will be broadcast live Sept. 21 from L.A.’s Staples Center.

Katherine Heigl’s Great Escape

Katherine Heigl

Katherine Heigl has graduated from the romantic comedy portion of her Julia Roberts-paved career and is moving swiftly into her Erin Brockovich period.

According to Variety, the Grey’s Anatomy thesp has signed on to star in and produce a big-screen adaptation of Escape, the best-selling memoir of Carolyn Jessop.

Jessop was born into the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints and was forced to marry a man 32 years her senior before ultimately fleeing the sect with her eight children. Her testimony later led to the conviction of polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs.

Filming on the drama will begin once Heigl completes work on her lighter-fared effort The Ugly Truth.

Katherine Heigl Preps For Wedding

Katherine Heigl Preps For Wedding

She’s getting ready to get hitched to fiancé Josh Kelley, and Katherine Heigl couldn’t be more exicited. Yesterday she was spotted making a few last-minute errands in preparation for the big day.

The “Grey’s Anatomy” babe and her mom made their rounds in Brentwood, California yesterday afternoon.  They stopped at Habit, Divine, Jennifer Knits, and Ruby Slippers.

Reportedly, she was in search of fabric for her bridesmaids’ dresses, as well as shoes for them to wear to the said-to-be intimate ceremony.

One of the paps pestering the Heigls asked Katherine how she felt about being a Vanity Fair covergirl (she’s on this month’s cover).  She replied, “It was exciting doing the front cover of Vanity Fair, especially now I am getting married.”

As the Heigl/Kelley nuptials draw closer, stay tuned to for all the details.
