New Single From Heidi! Awesomely Horrible!

Heidi Montag

A new single from Heidi Montag! Finally!

Only, initially we thought we’d been tricked. We clicked the link and the first thing we heard was what sounded like our computer telling us the file could only be played back on Soviet-era Tandys. Either that or our headphones had gone toward the light, which meant an office-wide hunt for a working pair might be at hand.

Turns out it was just the intro to “Fashion”…

The whole “accidentally discovering that GarageBand lets you make sound with the keys” effect doesn’t strike us as kitschy enough to be cool in popular music yet. So we didn’t focus too much on that. Instead, we chose to absorb the message in lyrics like “I live to be model thin.” Good call, New York Times, she is a feminist hero for a new generation.

Nas Drops N-Word, Delays Album

Nas

Hate him now, hear him later.

Controversial rapper Nas has announced that he is moving the release date of his highly anticipated ninth studio album back two weeks, from July 1 to July 15.

The set, the hip-hopster’s second release for Def Jam and his own Jones Experience imprint, was originally supposed to hit stores in February under the title of N-gger. But following the requisite uproar, Nas scrapped that name and is now calling the album Untitled.

“It’s important to me that this album gets to the fans,” the hip-hopster said in a statement.

“It’s been a long time coming. I want my fans to know that creatively and lyrically, they can expect the same content and the same messages. It’s that important. The streets have been waiting for this for a long time. The people will always know what the real title of this album is and what to call it.”

The first single, “Hero,” shipped to radio stations last week and features R&B singer Keri Hilson. Another track, “Fried Chicken,” features a guest turn by Busta Rhymes. Fans could also get their hands on a couple of other tunes that were leaked in the last few weeks, among them the Barack Obama-saluting “Black President,” produced by DJ Green Lantern.

Nas’ last album, Hip-Hop Is Dead, debuted in December 2006 at No. 1 on the Billboard charts and went on to sell more than 800,000 copies and score a Grammy nod for Best Rap Album.

Hayden Panettiere Plays “Hero” To Less Fortunate

Hayden Panettiere Plays “Hero” To Less Fortunate

In another story of awesome celebrity generosity, Heroes hottie Hayden Panettiere took some time out of her busy schedule to make a difference for kids in South Central Los Angeles.

The blonde babe proved that you can still look good while doing charity work.  She wore a sexy blue dress, carried an oversized handbag and neutral-colored heels.

“Milk and Bookies” sponsored the event benefitting the Boys and Girls Club of South Central Los Angeles.  The book-readings took place at a Studio City bookstore, where parents and their kids came out to see the celebs, and purchase books for a new library in Watts (South Central).

Panettiere was more than happy to don a paper crown, at one point, and read her own book, Sassafras, to the kids that came out to help others.
