Michael Caine’s High Praise for Heath Ledger’s The Joker
I’m getting more and more excited for The Dark Knight everyday, and with Oscar winner Michael Caine making such huge claims, Heath Ledger may have huge expectations to fill.
“I tell you the big surprise in the new ‘Batman’ — Heath Ledger as the Joker,” Caine told reporters in New York Tuesday. “He’s fantastic. He’s gone in a different direction than Jack (Nicholson) … Jack was like a really scary old, nasty old uncle with a funny face. Heath is like the most murderous psychopath you’ve ever seen on the screen,” Caine said.
“I was waiting for Batman’s guests, but (the Joker) had taken over the elevator with — he has seven dwarfs and… oh! wait until you see them. So, I’d never seen any of it and the elevator door opened and they came out and I forgot every bloody line. They frightened the bloody life out of me …. It’s amazing and it’s so different from Jack.”

Jessica Alba Dismisses “Sexiest” Polls
While many Hollywood starlets will go out of their way for attention and compliments, Jessica Alba has been flowered with such high praise for her looks that she’s forced to try and disprove its validity.
The Into the Blue actress, who was spotted out yesterday continuing her search for a new house, recently commented to press about not letting the “Sexiest” polls go to her head.
“I don’t really think about it too much. I’m like everybody else. I get insecure about things just like everybody else. I wake up in the morning and think, What the hell am I going to do with my face today or my hair? What am I going to wear?”
Jessica continued, “People make me feel like … I’m not a person or superhuman or something because you’re on a list that’s being put together. But I understand that those magazines and those lists only exist just to give publicity for the magazine and publicity for the project that I’m in, and it’s not necessarily completely and totally true.”

Tom Cruise was spotted taking his two lovely ladies to a Pier 59 Studios photo shoot yesterday, as photographers swarmed their Midtown hotel in hopes of catching a shot of the Cruise clan.
The 45-year-old Top Gun actor has been in NYC promoting his upcoming wartime suspense tale Lions For Lambs, after a long stay in Berlin working on another movie in the pipelines titled Valkyrie.
Speaking of Valkyrie, the 2008 thriller has fans excited, as it reunites director Bryan Singer and writer Chris McQuarrie, who created the 1995 hit film The Usual Suspects. And for his efforts, Tom has received high praise from his co-stars.
“Tom Cruise’s career is no accident,” says Valkyrie co-star Kenneth Branagh, who directed the new Sleuth. “He chooses well and bravely. I was incredibly impressed.”
Sienna Miller Not Engaged, Says Stepmom
Sienna Miller’s stepmom is dismissing reports that the actress is about to get hitched to Notting Hill actor Rhys Ifans – but she still gives him high praise.
Asked if Miller is to wed her boyfriend, Kelly Hoppen tells British Hello!: “That’s a load of bull—-. Although I have to admit when I read it in the paper I thought, ’Do I not know about something?’ You end up believing what you read!”
Still, she’s clearly fond of her stepdaughter’s current beau. “I love him. He’s a very cool, great guy. And you know what? He makes her happy, he loves her,” Hoppen says.
Given Miller’s tumultuous past with former fiancé Jude Law, Hoppen says of Ifans, “As long as he’s kind to her – considering what she’s been through – that’s great. He’s loyal, trustworthy and honest.”
Hoppen was previously married to Sienna’s father, American banker Ed Miller, and helped bring up the 26-year-old actress and her sister, Savannah.
