Julia Roberts Is “A Proud Wife and Mother”
As reported previously by the , Julia Roberts spent Friday evening being honored at the American Cinematheque awards gala.
Dialogue from the evening has now been made available, and the soon-to-be 40-year-old actress seems as happy as ever with her position in life.
“More than anything I am just the most proud wife and mother to three of the most amazing children,” she told the star studded gathering of attendees, adding, “And the widening of my life, and my hips, is really just the true gift of my husband Danny (Moder), who I would be so lonely without.”
Academy Award winning actor Tom Hanks was on hand, and spoke of what he learned by working closely with Julia on the set, saying: “Knowledge that no matter how good of shape you are in, no matter how good of a haircut you are sporting, Julia Roberts is, at the end of the day, going home to a husband way better looking than you will ever be.” Then Hanks joked, “Everybody loves Julia, everybody, everybody.”
Shakira Bides Her Time Before Marriage
Shakira Bides Her Time Before Marriage
Colombian beauty Shakira was in attendance for the “Love in the Time of Cholera” premiere last night in Hollywood. And while she’s been engaged for over six years now, she doesn’t sound like she’s in any hurry down the aisle.
The “Hips Don’t Lie” songstress told press, “We’ll get married eventually, or we won’t, but we’re together and that’s what matters. We love each other and we want to stay like that. Why fix something that’s not broken?”
And with Shakira, it’s all about love. “Love is my primary nourishment. I think that nothing else in life, not even your career or music — well, what I’m saying is a bold statement — I think that nothing can substitute love as the propelling force of everyone’s lives.”
She added, “It’s number one on my list of priorities, of course.” You can bet that her fiancée, Argentine lawyer Antonio de la Rua reaping the benefits of having such a loving (and loaded) lady in his life.
Shakira Says No to Nudity
Shakira Says No to Nudity
Some actresses don’t mind showing some skin in order to garner a big film role. But International singing sensation Shakira isn’t one of them.
The “Hips Don’t Lie” songstress reportedly turned down a starring role in the movie “Love in the Time of Cholera” because it would’ve required some on-screen nudity.
Shakira told press, “There was nudity involved, so I said no. My parents wouldn’t like it at all. So I said thank you, but no thank you.”
And it’s not like passing on the role hurt the 30-year-old singer’s career. Just a few days ago she was working the late night circuit, performing and appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
One Model Picked to Be on Top
One of these girls is not like the other. And that's because she's America's Next Top Model. Find out who walked the walk, straight into the judges' hearts… Here's a positive sign.
Thanks to a fierce runway presence and some ultra-pretty pictures, the busty and beautiful Whitney Thompson was named America's Next Top Model, becoming the first plus-size (or full-figured) poser to make the top-rated CW series' final three, let alone win the whole darn thing.
"There's definitely times I've looked in the mirror or looked at other girls and thought that I wasn't like them," the 20-year-old from Atlantic Beach, Fla., said after learning she had beat out her high-fashion-ready cofinalist, Anya Kop, for all the spoils.
"I'm here because I do feel good about myself and I want other women in America to feel better about themselves. I honestly think the girls will look up to me and say, 'I can do that, you know, I can be that'…I have breasts, and I have hips and I have a butt, and I am so proud of those things…
"It feels amazing to be here…This is exactly what I want. This is exactly everything I've ever wanted!" she exclaimed.
Per usual, Thompson will be getting a cover and six-page spread in Seventeen magazine, a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl cosmetics and representation from Elite Model Management.
Kop, meanwhile, seemed headed for ANTM glory after Tyra Banks called her CoverGirl commercial the best in the bunchonce the unimpressive whole had been dissected for partsand fellow judge Paulina Porizkova called the Russian-born 19-year-old the one you'd want to buy a dress from.
But ultimately it was Thompson, with her classic look, spunky personality and ability to take direction, who became "the first girl with some booty" to win the competition.
"I know I'm going to go back home and I'm going to cry, but I'm proud of myself," Kop said afterward, hanging onto her signature positivity throughout. "I may not be America's Next Top Model but I have my whole career ahead of me."
Not quite as amiable at times was 22-year-old Fatima Siad, tonight's third runner-up after failing to make it out of the CoverGirl audition and into the season-ending Versace runway show.
The stunning Iman look-alike, already feeling far superior to her fellow finalists (or so it went in the editing booth this season), had her reasons for being standoffish, but ultimately her refusal to listen to constructive criticism didn't sit well with the judges.
But when she was finally given the boot, she didn'tfor oncediss the remaining girls.
"I feel like I've accomplished so much because I feel like I've made history. I'm the first asylum-refugee woman to be part of America's Next Top Model," said Siad, a Somali refugee living in Boston (and now New York) who almost didn't make it to Rome this season because of a problem with her travel visa. "I feel like I'm like born again…I feel so new, I feel so beautiful, I feel so strong…So many things going through my mind.
"Trust me, will not forget about me. You will see this face." (And we presume she means not just when we see an old pic of Iman.)
