Ashley Tisdale’s Mom: Furious About Rumors

Ashley Tisdale’s Mom: Furious About Rumors

It was quite unexpected when last week, rumors began to circulate on the Internet that Ashley Tisdale was dying of AIDS.  And now her mom is speaking out about it.

Last Thursday (June 5th) blogs began running an unconfirmed/unsourced ‘news story’ that the 22-year-old High School Musical cutie had been diagnosed with HIV due to ‘contaminated equipment’ used during her rhinoplasty surgery.

Subsequently, reports began to surface saying that her HIV had developed into full-blown AIDS, and that she only had six months to live.  Of course, Tisdale’s rep shot down the false reports, but by then the damage to Ashley, and her family, had been done.

Lisa Tisdale, Ashley’s mother, told press, “My daughter is healthy and just fine — but my husband and I just don’t know why anyone would spread such a rumor. And what really upsets me is that anyone can write anything, and it ends up on the Internet. It’s so irresponsible; so many people will just assume it’s a fact.”

Ashley Judd is proving that she’s more than just a pretty face.  Besides being a prolific actress, on both the screen and stage, she’s making a difference as the “global ambassador” for YouthAIDS.

More than twelve million people under 25 years of age have HIV, with over half of all new infections occurring within the 15-24 year-old age bracket.  And Judd isn’t having it.

She told press, “There is an extraordinary, compelling, urgent problem.” And Ashley has teamed up with YouthAIDS founder Kate Roberts to work towards “a world free of HIV.”

How are they doing it?  Advertising has proved to be a very effective means of reaching young people with their message.  Judd said of Roberts, “Advertising is hip, slick and cool and Kate understands that.  Now she devotes all of that energy into making positive lifestyle choices … hip, slick and cool.”

Along with her philanthropic work, Ashley is filming a new movie, “Helen.” She was recently spotted at the Vancouver airport headed for the Big Apple. Busy girl!

It was off to the tattoo parlor for Rihanna, who got her ink job touched up after a shopping outing with a gal pal on Sunday (January 13).

The 19-year-old “Umbrella” singer wound up at Hollywood’s Body Electric tattoo parlor on Melrose to have a little work done on her growing collection of skin art.

In the past, Rihanna told press, “I like hanging out in tattoo shops. I am so intrigued by tattoos. It’s an entire culture, and I study it. Sometimes I go with friends or just by myself. I get bum-rushed, but I don’t care. I don’t take security.”

In other news on the Grammy nominated singer, Rihanna and beatmaster Timbaland have designed their own t-shirts for clothier H&M’s “Fashion Against Aids” range.

The awareness raising campaign launches in H&M stores in February, with 25% of the proceeds donated to HIV/AIDS research.
