The First 3D Showdown will take place in Summer 2009
With 3D becoming the emerging format in the Hollywood scene, I always believed it was only a matter of time before we would see two films go head to head in the third dimension. And it looks like Memorial Day 2009 will be that day, pitting James Cameron’s AVATAR up against DreamWorks Monsters vs. Aliens.
Today only 750 screens are equipped with the digital projection technology to allow 3D projection, but that is expected to change. Jeffrey Katzenberg has told people that he wanted to debut Monsters vs. Aliens on 6,000 screens. I’m not sure the exhibitors will buy that quickly into the digital technology. I think it’s more reasonable to expect a few thousand screens at most by that date. But the real problem is that both Fox and DreamWorks want to do a wide release. Exhibitors are nervous that they will be asked to choose, because most theaters don’t have the cash ($50,000 per screen) to invest in a digital upgrade.
I still believe that the only way Hollywood will get the exhibitors to preform the massive equipment upgrades is to help pay for some of the costs. After-all, the movie theaters will save a lot of money without having to develop and distribute film prints. But at the same time, I can see things from the point of view of the studios. Why should they pay when the theater will be the one benefitting from the extra 3D traffic. George Lucas tried to force this change without much success. I wonder if this DreamWorks vs. Fox 3D showdown will do much better.

Amid rumors that they’d broken up, Jennifer Aniston and Paul Sculfor are now claimed to actually be doing quite well. And with reports that Jen is planning to fly Paul’s parents out to Tinseltown to meet them, you gotta wonder if something serious is on the horizon.
Jennifer is said to be head over heels in love with the British hunk, and wants to cozy up with his mom and dad. It only makes sense that she’d be curious about his family life, since she could eventually be part of it.
Apparently, Jen’s already talked to Paul’s mom, Jean, on the phone. During their conversation, Aniston begged Mrs. Sculfor to bring baby pictures of Paul when they visit.
After all, if Jen is going to take this relationship to the next level, she wants to be sure Paul doesn’t come from a wackjob background. She told a friend, “You can learn a lot about a man by meeting his family.”
And the Sculfors are willing to come out to meet the actress, while holding some reservations about the Hollywood scene. “They are pretty star-struck – after all, they’ve watched her on TV for years. George is the most excited – he described Jen as ‘a fit-looking bird’. Jean is like any mom; she is protective and has her reservations about the whole celebrity world.”

She was a hit on the small screen with Dawson’s Creek, and her latest big-screen film “Mad Money” did pretty well for itself. And now Katie Holmes is poised to conquer the stage.
That’s right, Mrs. Tom Cruise has confirmed that she’ll be joining John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest, and Patrick Wilson in a Broadway revival of All My Sons by Arthur Miller.
And according to a source, the “Teaching Mrs. Tingle” cutie actually had stage acting in her sights long before she hit the Hollywood scene.
“Back in High School, Katie was the lead in every musical she tried out for. She had a real sense of owning the stage. Everyone knew she’d be huge someday,” said a high school acquaintance, who worked with Holmes on a production of Damn Yankees back in Catholic school.

She’s all over the Hollywood scene, though some are unsure why. But one thing is for sure - Kim Kardashian’s backside is getting plenty of attention. The question on most everyone’s mind centers on whether Kimmy’s infamous derriere is real or fake.
The knowledgeable people at Make Me Heal seem to think that it may very well be all Kim, telling, “While Kim’s buttocks are very large and shapely relative to her thin body frame, there are quite a few women who have this body shape from natural genes.”
Plastic surgeon Dr. Tony Youn adds, “While her (Kim’s) bottom does appear to jut out unnaturally, this may, in fact, be hereditary. I have seen some patients with similar figures who have not had any work done.”
And while we may never know for sure the truth behind Ms Kardashian’s much-ballyhooed behind, one thing we can count on… wherever there is a paparazzo with some film in his camera, Kim can’t be far away.
