Christian Bale Is No Christian Slater
What’s in a name? Well, if you’re Christian Bale, it means a slight case of mistaken identity.
In the June/July issue of Details magazine, the Dark Knight star recalls the time somebody actually thought he was that other Christian:
“A casting director saw me in a hotel lobby and practically ran at me, holding a script: ’Thank god I’ve finally found you! We have this movie that you’re perfect for, and this is an amazing coincidence. The director and producer are not going to believe it, that I just bumped into you! We’ve been talking about how perfect you are for this role for so long! Finally, I met Christian Slater.
” ’Christian Bale.’
” ’Excuse me?’
” ’I said, ’Christian Bale.’
“And she went, ’Oh, I’m sorry,’ took the script, and walked away.”
Dylan McDermott and Dermot Mulroney can no doubt sympathize with such confusion.
Meanwhile, ChristianBale, that isalso opens up about working with the late Heath Ledger on the upcoming Batman sequel…
“He was incredibly intense in his performance but incredibly mellow and laid-back. Certainly there was this great anarchistic streak to itjust getting dirtier than anybody’s envisioned the Joker before,” says Christian, adding that he hopes the film “will be an absolutely appropriate celebration of his work.”
The Dark Knight swoops into theaters July 18.

The thing about big film and fashion festivals that sucks for celebrities is that they run the risk of meeting up with ex-flames in front of the paparazzi. But according to reports, John Mayer and Jessica Simpson never came close to seeing each other.
While the “Sweetest Sin” singer arrived yesterday in New York City for Fashion Week, the Continuum rocker has been sunning himself in Mexico. According to his rep, “John has been out of the country since last Friday.”
There were reports that Simpson had to shoo Mayer out of the SoHo Grand Hotel lobby for fear of having an uncomfortable run-in with him. But those reports have turned out to be false.
And it doesn’t look like John has any plans to visit the Big Apple for Fashion Week, so Jess can breathe easy. According to his rep, “Today, after a hurricane-related weather delay, (John’s) back to work and traveling…for tomorrow’s performance at Virginia Tech.”

The musician/supermodel collaboration is very common, but it usually happens in the bedroom, not onstage. But for husband and wife Seal and Heidi Klum, they’re contemplating a singing duet for this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
A source told press, “Heidi may do a duet with Seal. She has a great voice and they sing at home all the time. It’s looking like it’s going to happen.”
But it’s still not official. Seals rep told press, “I am unable to confirm that they will be performing together.”
Speaking of the supercouple, recently on the Oprah Winfrey Show, they stopped by to talk about their married life, and revealed a risque story of how they first met.
Heidi told Oprah, “I met him in a hotel lobby in New York City and he came in just from the gym and I was sitting there and I was, like, wow.” By the way, he was wearing bicycle shorts. “And I pretty much saw everything,” says Klum. “The whole package.”

Lindsay Lohan Hits New Low… Goes To Rehab
If you follow the trail of news stories long enough, it’s not long before you reach a predictable destination. That’s what is happening for Lindsay Lohan. After making a scene in her hotel lobby and crashing her Benz last weekend, it wasn’t a surprise to see her hitting rock bottom.
In Lindsay’s case, Memorial Day weekend may be memorable for all the wrong reasons. It marks the second time she’s going to rehab. “She finally realizes it’s the right thing to do,” said a friend of Lohan’s. “She is going willingly.”
This comes after her DUI/Cocaine posession late last week, and some new photographs taken within 48 hours of the crash. The photographs are of her passed out in the front seat of a car, while her friend (Samantha Ronson) stopped at a gas station. The pair had just left a Memorial Day pool party at Teddy’s at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood when a paparazzo caught up to them at a gas station around 4 a.m..
The pictures range from Lohan passed out with her “30 Days” sobriety medallion around her neck, to her kneeling on the sidewalk throwing up. This does not paint a pretty picture for the actress/singer. Her rep isn’t talking, either. It seems that this time it’s gone too far. The actress’ friends are hoping the tumultuous weekend will serve as a wakeup call.
“It’s a tough time for her right now,” said a close friend, who asked not to be identified. “Everyone is hoping that this is a learning lesson to all.”
It is now being reported that Lindsay has checked into Promises Rehab Center in Malibu – the same place that housed Britney Spears during her little head-shaving meltdown.
