Simon Cowell producing Paramount’s One Chance - VIDEO

Simon Cowell will produce One ChanceSimon Cowell is producing One Chance at Paramount. The film will be about Paul Potts, the opera singer who competed on Britain’s Got Talent. The performance on the show was his last effort at a music career. Potts, a cell phone salesman, had hit a streak of bad luck and only auditioned on BGT in 2007 on a whim. He ended up blowing away the judges, Cowell one of them. Potts won the show, went on an international music tour, and released an album.

Justin Zackman, the scribe from The Bucket List, will write the screenplay. Zackman is also working on Planetwalker, an environmental drama for Universal.

This is the American Idol judge’s studio debut. Cowell is also working on a project about a musical reality show called Star Struck. I wonder if that will be anything like American Dreamz which starred Mandy Moore and Hugh Grant.

The video of Paul’s audition for Britain’s Got Talent is after the jump.

Daniel Craig, Hugh Grant Get the Kiss-Off

Daniel Craig, Quantum of Solace

The ultimate Bond girl just got a license to kiss two of Britain’s hottest stars.

The longtime producer of the 007 franchise, Barbara Broccoli, laid down a winning $38,000 bid at a London fund-raiser Tuesday for the chance to lock lips with current superspy Daniel Craig, big-screen bumbler extraordinaire Hugh Grant and Harry Potter half-giant Robbie Coltrane.

Well, ever since the casting couch was rendered illegal, the producers have to get their action from somewhere.

The smooches were auctioned off at the star-studded Great British Movie Event, proceeds from which went to the National Film and Television School.

In addition to puckering up, Craig also paid up, shelling out $36,000after a heated bidding war with Grant, no lessfor an uncorrected proof of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, published in the U.K. as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Grant struck out again later in the night when he was outbid over two walk-on parts in a Working Title film, a production company that frequently bankrolls his acting endeavors. Unfortunately, his $32,000 bid for the prize didn’t quite cut it.

Meanwhile, Craig’s golden touch was all over the event, as a tuxedo worn by the blond Bond also managed to bank some big ones for the charity, selling for $19,000.

Elizabeth Hurley Talks Baby Fever

Elizabeth Hurley Talks Baby Fever

Enjoying a quiet evening out, Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar were spotted leaving the celebrity-friendly Cipriani restaurant in London, England last night (June 16).

And the “Austin Powers” hottie looked amazing as usual, sporting a one-shoulder sheer black knee-length dress along with a pair of open-toed black high heels, while her hubby opted for a black pinstriped suit with a lavender tie.

Hurley recently told press that she’s ready to start having kids with Nayar, though she’s “definitely not yet pregnant.” She also joked about the fact that she and Hugh Grant, whom she dated for 13 years, never had any kids.

“Sometimes Hugh and I can get morbid and say we could have had five children by now because we were together since we were 21.  [But] there was never a time when either of us wanted it.”

Karina Smirnoff Talks Mario, Tears Up on Chelsea

Mario Lopez, Karina Smirnoff

Karina Smirnoff sat down with E!’s Chelsea Handler Monday for an appearance on tonight’s Chelsea Lately.

In the interview, which will air in its entirety on tonight’s show, Smirnoff spoke for the first time about her split with Mario Lopez and about an News report in which Hooters model Meaghan Cooper claims Mario cheated on Smirnoff with her.

What did she have to say? You might be surprised…

When asked by Chelsea how she was holding up in the wake of news that “some girl who works at Hooters” was claiming Mario cheated, Smirnoff, who was choking back tears, replied: “You know, I am okay now. I was little bit upset earlier. But there is no easy way to break up, and, especially when you’re in the public eye, it’s that much harder. But, you know, it could be worse. It could be Divine Brown [the prostitute caught with Hugh Grant]. But, again, it’s not that bad.”

To lighten up the emotional moment, Chelsea suggested it might be worse if he had cheated on her with another guy. Smirnoff replied, “Yeah, that would have been worse.”

Smirnoff, who just got back from a vacation to the Bahamas and Las Vegas, was on the show to promote an exercise DVD.

And for inquiring minds who want to know, Chelsea asked Smirnoff about reports she was romantic with E!’s Michael Yo. “Michael and I are great friends,” Smirnoff said. “He has been consoling me through all of this. I think the world of him.”
