Tyra Banks Nabs an Emmy

Tyra Banks Nabs an Emmy

Ever since she began her own talk show, something has set Tyra Banks apart from the rest of the pack.  And now she has a Daytime Emmy Award to prove it.

At yesterday’s 2008 Daytime Emmy Awards, held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, the supermodel-turned-talk show host was on cloud nine, garnering the first ever Daytime Emmy for Informative Talk Show.

And she gave credit where credit was due, telling the audience, “I want to thank Oprah Winfrey for her inspiration.  She is the queen. She will always be the queen.” Banks also mentioned, “My mama is crying like a baby.”

Tyra’s model background definitely came out in her ensemble, consisting of a strapless beige floor-length gown with embroidered accents along with a blinging bracelet.

Heidi Klum’s Young Advisor

Heidi Klum’s Young Advisor

Heidi Klum spent Friday afternoon promoting her new cosmetic line at a Victoria’s Secret store at the Grove in Los Angeles.

And while the German supermodel may be the one in the spotlight, she tells that her three-year-old daughter Leni is the one with the real fashion sense.

Klum told press: “She loves make-up. I get my inspiration from her make-up kit, more than the other way around! She has glitter make-up and it looks great.”

“She doesn’t wear it like a woman, but she’ll do the mouse look with a little black nose and whiskers,” Heidi laughingly added.

On a more serious note, Heidi spoke of the importance to stay stylish and sexy after becoming a mother, saying: “I think it’s important to not completely let yourself go because when you’re a mom, you can go quickly into the sweatpants department. You should go back to your clothes from before. Having a child should not hold you back from being the way you want to be.”

Reese Witherspoon Beats the Odds

Reese Witherspoon Beats the Odds

Part of being a celebrity is helping those less fortunate with your time, talent, and pocketbook.  And Reese Witherspoon is making a difference for The Children’s Defense Fund.

The “Legally Blonde” actress showed up at Thursday’s Beat the Odds Awards at the Beverly Hills Hotel.  As it turns out, Reese has quite a history with the CDF.

Back in college, she picked up a copy of “The Measure of Our Success,” a novel published by the Children’s Defense Fund.  And when she was struggling to find a job in between filming “Election” and “Legally Blonde,” she revisited the book for inspiration.

She told press, “(During that time) I was going though a little bit of a rough patch. It was before Legally Blonde, and I was having a hard time getting a job. There were all these questions about my weight, and I was asking myself, ‘Why am I an actress? What is life about?’ So I started reading the book again, and I called the Children’s Defense Fund to see if I could help.”

And she’s been helping them ever since, with both financial gifts and lending her celebrity to their cause.

She’s the token cute blonde in the High School Musical franchise, and Ashley Tisdale has confessed that she’s a big fan of another peroxide pal - Jessica Simpson.

The 22-year-old singer/actress stopped by MTV’s Total Request Live yesterday.  During her interview, she sang the praises of the “With You” babe, having just toured with her.

Tisdale said, “I was on tour with Jessica and it was amazing. I was a big Newlyweds fan and she was so nice. I got to hang out with her. I told her I love her, and she said congratulations to me for my High School Musical success.”

As for her performing career, Ashley revealed that she’s been a ham her whole life.  As early as age 8 she was charming audiences.

“I think my first performance was when I was 8-years-old in front of about a thousand people. I was young but it was what I always wanted to do.”

When it comes to writing lyrics for her songs, the High School Musical actress draws inspiration from anything and everything in her life. “I get inspired by anything, anywhere. I could be out shopping and something could just pop in to my head.”
