The Bachelor’s aftermath: Matt Grant moves out

The BachelorA month ago, bachelor Matt Grant handed the final rose and a $60,000 engagement ring to actress Shayne Lamas in the season finale of ABC’s The Bachelor: London Calling. The final credits of the episode hadn’t even finished rolling when people (I include myself in the lot) were already betting on how long the two of them would last together. No, the couple didn’t officially break up yet, but Matt did move out of Shayne’s house.

People magazine’s website reports that since the final rose ceremony, Matt has been staying with Shayne in Century City, California. Even if I was not pleased with Matt’s choice (I was rooting for Amanda R.), I accepted it especially since he kept saying in interviews from the very beginning of the show that he found “the one.” As I watched the show, it looked like his love for Shayne was more infatuation mixed with a huge high school crush. Name a guy who wouldn’t want to date a hot-looking actress.

With The Bachelor’s track record, it is not surprising to hear today that Grant moved out. He claims that the couple is still engaged and going strong but that the two of them need space to grow. Grant, who lived in London, England, up until now, says that he needs to get his own life in L.A., get friends, get his career going.

I’m somewhat willing to buy his story. After all, Matt and Shayne didn’t have time to properly date and get to know one another in a normal setting before moving in together. Taking a step back may help them grow stronger in the end.

Do you think that the couple will stick together and get married eventually? Or do you think that The Bachelor’s curse will hit and break those two off?

Is Mike Wallace really all done with TV?

WallaceHave we seen the last of Mike Wallace on TV? If you believe his son, Fox newsman Chris Wallace, the answer is yes. Mike Wallace, who has been recovering from a January triple bypass heart surgery, recently had a fall in his home in New York. Fortunately, Mike wasn’t badly hurt, but the doctors are watching him closely in the hospital because of the complications from his heart surgery. He is on blood thinner because of the bypass and if he starts to bleed from the fall, he could bleed out.

According to Wallace’s son, Chris, host of Fox News Sunday, the heart “is working fine,” but he added that his 90 year old father is done with TV. Does CBS know that for sure? I mean, will there be no future Mike Wallace interviews or special interviews? He retired from 60 Minutes in 2006, but remains with the network as Correspondent Emeritus. Chris made it sound like there will be no more TV ever for Mike Wallace.

He also said of his father, “He’s doing really well,” having spent time with him while he was in New York at Fox’s studios to report on the presidential primaries.

Father and son will be vacationing this summer in Massachusetts. “His plans are to be healthy enough to go up to Martha’s Vineyard for the summer. And since I spend two weeks with him every year, I said to him, in terms of his rehab, ’Don’t screw it up, because you’re going to wreck my vacation.’”

Mary-Kate Olsen’s Love Of Fashion

Mary-Kate Olsen’s Love Of Fashion

Mary-Kate Olsen just loves fashion and desperately wants to be a prominent figure in the industry.

The former Full House star has been busily taking in and studying the latest trends at Paris Fashion Week, including the John Galliano show on Saturday (March 1).

The close attention detail will be needed, too, as Mary-Kate and her twin sister Ashley are currently working on a coffee table book about fashion, called “Influence”.

Set to be released this fall by Penguin Group, the book will include “exclusive photographs of Ashley and Mary-Kate from world renowned photographer Rankin, and a wide variety of other never-before-seen materials and interviews from Mary-Kate and Ashley’s personal collections.”

“Ashley and I interviewed the people who have inspired us, with the hope that they will inspire and teach others,” Mary-Kate said in a statement.
