Sequel Talk: Pineapple Express, Hulk 3, Sex and the City 2, Bad Boys 3
Hollywood loves sequels, and the readers of movie blogs love to hear the early talk of them (even if it never develops into anything). So lets take a look at the recent sequel gossip going around the interwebs.

Seth Rogen and James Franco are already talking about the possibility of the first comedy sequel produced by Judd Apatow - Pineapple Express 2?
“Yeah, I’m waiting for the sequel,” Franco revealed to MTV at Sunday’s Movie Awards. Rogen added, “Yep, we’ve talked about it.”

When asked who will play the villain in the next Incredible Hulk movie (if the demand warrants a sequel), director Louis Leterrier says that Samuel Sterns (played by Tim Blake Nelson) is introduced in his film and of course, will eventually become The Leader. [comics2film]

At the 2008 MTV Movie Awards, Will Smith told Hollyscoop that he has an idea for Bad Boys 3.
“We need Bad Boys 3, but Michael is too expensive now, he’s way too expensive.”
Even series director Michael Bay admitted that it might never happen even though they’ve talked about doing another one.
“I don’t know,” said Bay. “We talk about it, but we all make too much money.”
Meanwhile The Daily Mail claims that the producers of Sex and the City are “exercising the sequel option in all of the stars’ contracts. They want it to be a franchise and think they can stretch it over at least a trilogy.” But can you really believe the British tabloid paper’s sources?

Sony Says Tobey Macguire is Still Spider-Man…For Now

Two days ago, we delved into rumors that the next Peter Parker could be played by the Macguire-esque Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous, Wristcutters) or the younger, spunkish Michael Angarano (Sky High). Well, Sony wants to put some Internet skywriting out there and fast. Their message is: “Tobey Macguire, you’re the best, you’re our Spider-Man!…right?” Sony’s head of media relations tells IESB…
“No one is being considered for the role but Tobey. Period.”
IESB adds that numerous inside sources and agencies have confirmed that no actor in Hollywood or Bollywood has been contacted for Peter Parker. Prior to this, CHUD caught word from a producer on Fugit’s latest film who said the rumor was totally bunk. Let’s all electric slide back to square one, okay?
This premature casting drama went supernova because a higher-up at Marvel speculated that Sony will have Spider-Man 4 in theaters in 2010, which supported rumors that Sony wants to shoot Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5 back-to-back. Whatever Sony says, there is movement happening with the franchise, so a little interwebs madness is expected, healthier than eating bacon even.
I don’t think Fugit would be (have been) an unwise choice, he’s talented, but he shares Macguire’s sleepy, melancholy style to a fault. Peter wonders why Shia Labeouf is not in the mix—he’s probably my first choice for Parker, and I really hope they bring in a new director as well. What’s interesting is that the fan outrage at these Macguire replacement rumors is not really there, which is odd. And fanboy hindsight on Spider-Man 3 seems to grow dimmer as time passes. More on the next Spidey flick(s) as it develops.
Aaron Eckhart Says Two-Face is Gross, Like, Really Gross

When you see Christopher Nolan’s vision of Two-Face up on screen in The Dark Knight, you have no idea and you’re going to vomit. This is basically what Aaron Eckhart is telling fans in a new interview with the LAT. He also peels back more of the villain’s “vigilante” psyche, leading us into slight spoiler territory. But first, let’s get to the “GROSS!” part…
“I can tell you that, basically, when you look at Two-Face, you should get sick to your stomach. Being the guy under all that, well, that was a lot of fun for me. It’s like you would feel if you met someone whose face had pretty much been ripped off or burned off with acid. …There are fans on the Internet who have done artist’s versions of what they think it will look like, and I can tell you this: They’re thinking small; Chris is going way farther than people think.”
That dimple in his chin might never look the same. :’( Note that he mentions “acid” above, as a debate continues on the interwebs regarding a scene from the latest trailer where Harvey Dent’s face encounters a gasoline-like substance. Interesting. Now for the spoiler (update: some readers feel this is a HUGE MEGA-SPOILER). Do not continue if you do not want to know how TDK’s Batman is different from Two-Face, and the fate of one character, thanks.
“The difference between Batman and Two-Face is how far they are willing to go and how they make their point,” Eckhart said. “Otherwise, we’re talking about vigilante crime-fighting. That’s what Batman is all about. He has a strong sense of justice. And Harvey Dent has an extremely strong sense of justice. His fiancée is killed. He’s horribly injured. But he is still true to himself. He’s a crime fighter, he’s not killing good people. He’s not a bad guy, not purely.”
Yeah, but Eckhart thinks the film sucks, right? No way…
“It’s not simple, and it gets ugly. I think people will be surprised.”
The Lovely Bones Delayed?

Yesterday word leaked onto the interwebs that Peter Jackson and one of his art directors have been supposedly duking it out over the depiction of heaven in The Lovely Bones. The film tells the story of a 14-year-old girl, raped, murdered, and dismembered by a neighbor, who watches from a personalized heaven as her family and friends deal with their grief. So it’s obviously a huge portion of the film. Now our friends at BadandUgly are reporting that the film has been pushed back from it’s announced March 13th release date until a FALL 2009 TBA slot. It looks like the situation might be actually worse than we first believed.
