Ashlee’s Big Day Dawns Bright
The sun is shining, the tables are set and the VIP port-a-potties are standing by. Time to have a wedding!
After days of flurried preparation on their behalf, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are primed to swap vows later today at the bride's parents' home in Encino, Calif., a little more than a month after announcing their engagement.
Jessica Simpson, who hosted a rehearsal dinner for the couple last night at her Beverly Hills pad, is expected to perform maid-of-honor duties, while her beau, Tony Romo, is expected to be her date. Any other boldface names on the guest list have been kept under wraps, but the sizable tent currently set up in Joe and Tina Simpson's decked-out backyard is going to holding between 150 and 250 people, all of whom received save-the-date notices rather than detailed invitations.
You know, for privacy's sake.
Is Mariah Engaged?
Mariah Carey was spotted wearing a diamond the size of our fist on her ring finger at the Tribeca Film Festival this weekend and holding hands with Nick Cannon at an after-party at Tenjune.
So is she engaged? Her reps won’t say, but that won’t stop us from speculating about what a Mariah wedding would look like:The ceremony will take place on a rainbow. The bride will wear white and the groom will be dressed as Hello Kitty. Guests will learn their seating assignments by selecting Angel cards, trained butterflies will pass out hors d’oeuvres and everyone will get to take home a mermaid. If you see carrier doves flying like mad all over L.A. and New York, know that invitations have gone out.
Nicole Richie’s Oz-Themed Baby Shower
Nicole Richie marked another milestone Sunday on her path to motherhood: Her baby shower.
About 90 people attended the Beverly Hills shower, organized by celebrity party planner Mindy Weiss, hosted by Richie’s mother Brenda, and thrown by her sister Sophia and friends Paris Hilton and Masha Gordon.
And while Richie has not revealed whether she’s having a boy or a girl, some of the gifts offered a clue.
From NoMi boutique in L.A., guests picked up a pair of $50 baby sneakers for a boy, and a $50 Tummy T Jack maternity shirt with a picture of a boy on the front.
Invitations were being hand-delivered Thursday to the event, whose theme was The Wizard of Oz, Richie’s favorite.
Richie and boyfriend Joel Madden announced the pregnancy in July. She is due in January.
“They’re so excited,” says a friend. “They can’t wait to meet their little baby.”
Madden recently told PEOPLE that the impending arrival is “the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to me, and to us.”
Warner Brothers set to join Hulu

Online video site Hulu is already one of the best places to find full length episodes of network TV shows. And it looks like Hulu could be adding to its content library soon. Warner Brothers president Bruce Rosenblum says a deal with Hulu is “imminent.” Right now, all of the content available on Hulu comes from NBC and FOX News Corp.
At first glance, that means that you might be able to find WB-produced shows that air on the CW network on Hulu. But Warner Brothers also produces TV programs that air on other networks, such as NBC’s ER. The studio also produces movies, and while the movie section of Hulu isn’t as fleshed out as the TV section, we might soon see a few more feature length films on the site.
Hulu is still in private beta, but the service recently expanded its beta by allowing current users to send out 10 invitations to their friends. So if you’ve got a friend with an account, now might be a good time to start bugging him or her incessantly. Or you could wait a few weeks. There’s a chance Hulu will emerge from its invitation-only beta test in March.
