Hizzoner, the Mayer of Fibbington

Jennifer Aniston, John Mayer

With rumors spreading like wildfire, perhaps the best thing to do is spread some more…kinda like firemen setting a backfire to sap a blaze’s energy. Maybe that’s John Mayer’s strategy, because he told the crowd at his St. Louis show last night:

“When I was a child I would kill small animals and wear their teeth as necklaces. True. Print that. And I’ve always felt deep down that I was born a woman.”

On tour with Jennifer Aniston in tow, John set off on this goofy rumor jag after telling the amused multitudes that he enjoyed it when fans emailed him dubious tales from the tabloids. Some of the other felicitous fabrications, per People magazine, which John shared with the crowd:

He fears the color green. He weighed 400 pounds when he was 12. He wrote the lyrics to the Kenny Loggins hit “Danger Zone” at age 9. And he’s “33 percent done” with building a time machine.

Nice going, John. With rumors this good, who needs reality?

Friends: The Movie (Cross Your Heart)

Not sure how old I was, but I remember reading EW’s “TV Preview,” drinking Barq’s on the couch, and I came across a new show called Friends. In that kid way, off one picture and a “skeptical” description, I knew it was going to be a hit. “Arm-chair executives,” we were labeled later. God, I hope this effing movie doesn’t happen.

A British tabloid reports that a big-screen version of Friends is indeed happening within “18 months,” due to the success of Sex and the City. Hey, 40-year-olds can still be friends in a genuine way, right? [koff] As long as everybody stays out of law school and blogs. The inside source provides a verbal mudslide of choice quotes, like this one…

‘What’s held back a Friends movie so far is that people were worried that Jennifer [Aniston] had simply become too famous to play Rachel again. …It really comes down to money, and I don’t think Jen has a problem with all of the Friends getting huge paydays for the movie.”

The Rembrandts await the call, as do a couple million people on exercise machines, and coffee shops. And the monkey (not that monkey)! Ladies and gentlemen, if this is the post-9/11 Big Chill, I hope somebody blows up the set.

Cameron Diaz: Relationship Update

Cameron Diaz: Relationship Update

Just like the rest of us, celebrities work hard to maintain their fit physiques.  And Cameron Diaz was spotted yesterday after a grueling workout in Los Angeles.

The “Charlie’s Angels” hottie chatted incessantly on her mobile phone as she walked back to her car from the gym sporting a white scoopneck top, black yoga pants, and a pair of sneakers.

In related news, it sounds like Cameron has solved her problem of singleness with an English model.  That’s right, Jennifer Aniston’s ex Paul Sculfor has reportedly moved into Diaz’s Hollywood Hills home.

An insider reveals, “Cameron and Paul have been spending every night together.  He doesn’t have a house in LA and Cameron doesn’t mind him staying with her. When he dated Jen Aniston he used to stay at hotels, but Cameron likes him a lot and always wants to be around him.”

Jennifer Aniston Rides the John Mayer Express

John Mayer, Jennifer Aniston, Tour Bus

Jennifer Aniston has resorted to taking the bus these days, and it has nothing to do with the summer’s sky-high gas prices.

E! News has learned that actress is not just attending boyfriend John Mayer’s concerts. She’s gone groupie, joining him on his tour bus.

Mayer kicked off the U.S. leg of his summer road show Wednesday night, with Aniston by his side backstage. The couple arrived together at the 2008 Milwaukee Summerfest at the Marcus Amphitheater on his rig.

“They were on John’s tour bus hanging out most of the time before the show,” Kristi Chuckel, publicist for Summerfest, tells News.

Mayer went on at 9 p.m. and played for about two hours. All the while, his No. 1 band aide was watching from the side.

“She was backstage standing in the wings, hanging out and watching the show,” says Chuckel.

And it looks like she was enjoying herself.

Karra Barnes, a Mayer fan who also saw Aniston backstage, tells News, “She seemed pretty into it. She supports him greatly, you can tell.

“John Mayer also seems to be playing with a lot more passion. I saw him last year at Summerfest, and he was very passionate then, but now something seems a little different about him.”

Perhaps it has something to do with his ride share?

Mayer, presumably with his Friend in tow, plays tonight at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, Mo.
