Janet Jackson’s Baby Plans Catch Her by Surprise

Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson is so busy prepping for her upcoming Rock With U World Tour, she must have forgotten her plan to have a baby with longtime boyfriend Jermaine Dupri following said tour. Or maybe she was never clued in to the pregnancy plot?

“So, Jermaine…said that you guys may be ready for baby. Is that true?” Ryan Seacrest probed this morning on his KIIS-FM morning show.

A stunned-sounding Janet replied, “When did he say that?”

Unraveling the big secret even more…

Ryan told Janet that when asked by People magazine this weekend, “Are you imminently ready for baby?” Jackson’s potential baby daddy said, “Yeah, soon. Right after the tour.”

“I guess he is,” Janet acknowledged, laughing.

No word on whether Janet is agreeing to take part in these rumored baby-making plans, but we have a feeling her man is going to be getting an earful tonightand not the kind that involves hip-hop beats.

Combs Reverting to Puff Daddy Status?

Sean "Diddy" Combs

Sean Combs must be feeling nostalgic.

The nickname-friendly hip-hop mogul, whose “official” alternate moniker has metamorphosed over the years from Puffy to Puff Daddy to P. Diddy to Diddy and so on, has decided to take a cue from his past.

Although his rep has denied reports of a name change, Combs has indicated on his MySpace site and via a guest appearance on a new single that he is reclaiming Puff Daddy, a handle he hasn’t used since 2001.

“They call me Puff Daddy…he’s back,” Combs raps on the remix of former stylist O’Neal McKnight’s single “Check Your Coat,” which also features Greg Nice and Jermaine Dupri.

“Yeah, you heard me rightI said Puff Daddy,” he continues. “I’m about to back on that Puff Daddy s–t.”

Sounds pretty convincing.

Although he originally wrote “This is your boy Puff Daddy!!! Yes Puff Daddy” in a blog entry on his MySpace page, a new entry, dated today, now reads, “This is your boy P.Diddy, the King of the Remix…”

So which is it, Diddy? Er, Daddy?

Well, he certainly doesn’t like the idea of anyone else trading on the name Puff Daddy, whether he’s using it or not.

The multihyphenate’s legal camp recently sent a cease-and-desist letter to cufflink seller Cuff-Daddy.com, warning the niche business that its name is way too close to Combs’ second stage name.

It’s unclear whether the current reversion to Puff Daddy has anything to do with a British court’s decision in 2006 that Combs couldn’t go by Diddy in England because U.K. record producer Richard “Diddy” Dearlove had already been using the name professionally for years.

“It’s only fair that since he said he used Diddy first, that he be allowed to use it,” Combs said amiably at the time. “I am blessed that I have many, many names to choose from.”

Kim Kardashian Hits Dupri’s Grammy Pre-Party

Kim Kardashian Hits Dupri’s Grammy Pre-Party

Making her way back onto the red carpet, Kim Kardashian posed for photographer’s with a smile at last night’s Jermaine Dupri’s Grammy Pre-Party.

The event, which was held at Central Hollywood Lounge in Hollywood, comes just days after the socialite turned reality star was sued by singer Brandy’s mother.

According to press reports, “The claim alleges the Kardashian’s ran up a bill of over US$120,000 on Norwood’s credit card while Kim was employed as Brandy’s stylist in 2004. It alleges that the siblings even used the card in the family’s own businesses.”

Since that time, a representative of the Kardashian family responded to the lawsuit, calling it “meritless”.

The brief statement released by Kardashian’s people read: “The Kardshian family looks forward to proving the absurdity of these claims in a court of law.”

Famous Friends Fete Pharrell

Pharrell Williams, Nicole Richie

Pharrell's not only a power producer and singer, he's also got his own L.A. storeand it's attracting a slew of famous fans.

Last night was the West Coast grand opening of his Bape Store on Melrose, which brought out the likes of Kanye West, Jermaine Dupri and Pete Wentzas well as Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. (It was a busy night for the new parents, who took advantage of being sans baby to hit Charlotte Ronson's dinner party at the Roosevelt.)

But it was Kanyeand not Nicolewho tried to steal Pharrell's thunder in the middle of an interview with News on his big night…

Kanye interrupted to sound off about how the media twists his words and the truth never gets out. 'Ye told he's done with the media for a whilebut he wouldn't say how long his ban would be in effect. For the real deal, he directed fans to his blog.

So let's get this straight: You're taking over someone else's interview to tell the media that you're not talking to the media anymore? Hmmm…sounds like someone's trying to get more page views!
