Jimmy Kimmel Live renewed through 2010

Have you noticed that Jimmy Kimmel Live has slowly but surely become a big force at ABC? It doesn’t do Jay Leno numbers, but the ratings have increased in the past few months, the network has given him prime real estate on prime time during the NBA Finals, and there just seems to be a buzz about the show. ABC must have noticed too because they’ve extended Kimmel’s contract through the 2010 season.
This is good news for Kimmel fans, as there has been much talk about what would happen to Kimmel if ABC were to grab Leno after Leno exits his show on NBC and Conan O’Brien takes over. Would Kimmel be pushed to 12:35 if Leno comes aboard, or even later if ABC also decided to keep Nightline? Of course, there’s no word on whether or not this new contract guarantees Kimmel the 12:05am slot. Leno leaves his show in 2009.
I hope Kimmel stays around for a long time. I can’t get into his musical guests, but he has the best monlogue on late night, in my opinion.

Kimmel, Carolla, Knoxville Not to Blame for Mangled Manhood
Let the record show that Adam Carolla, Jimmy Kimmel and Johnny Knoxville are not perverters of other people’s private parts.
An actor who claimed he was tricked into putting his penis in a mousetrap during a DVD promotional appearance on Carolla’s syndicated morning radio show has dropped his negligence suit against the host and alleged accomplices Kimmel and Knoxville.
Perry Caravello filed the $10.5 million suit in Los Angeles Superior Court back in May 2007, claiming he was tricked into the self-harming incident back in September 2006. At the time, he was promoting Windy City Heat, a TV movie produced by Kimmel and costarring Knoxville, who was also a guest on Carolla’s radio show the morning of the cringe-inducing incident.
Knoxville, Caravello claims, offered him $10 million for sticking his appendage in the snappy contraption, which he did, only to have the mousetrap unexpectedly go off. Adding insult to substantial injury, the turn of events was also captured on video without Caravello’s permission and circulated online, per the suit.
While Kimmel was not present for the stunt gone awry, he was included in the negligence and fraud suit because Caravello claimed he had struck a deal with the late-night host to receive a cut from the film’s DVD sales and to be involved in sequels for the film, neither of which has happened yet.
Caravello also claimed that while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! back in 2006, he was assaulted by Kimmel’s warm-up comedian Don Barris, who was also named in the suit.
While the dismissal papers were signed in court Friday, it’s unclear whether the suit is being dropped due to a settlement or for another reason.
The defendants, who had denied any wrongdoing, did not immediately comment on the case.

The Pussycat Dolls are back just in time for the summer, as the Grammy-nominated quintet kicked off the beginning of their busy schedule with a performance of their new single “When I Grow Up” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday (May 20).
The burlesque ensemble consisting of Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton and Kimberly Wyatt were photographed performing a sound check prior to their latest live appearance.
From there, Nicole and her fellow dancing Dolls headed off to Katsuya restaurant to wind down following their jam-packed day of promotions .
And now that Kimmel is over and done with, the group is slated to perform at the 2008 MTV Movie Awards (June 1), also taking over hosting duties on VH1’s “Maxim Hot 100″ (premiering May 27).
